Description
As an engineer on the Design Tools team, you’ll build, design, and refine features in Icon Composer, SF Symbols, Asset Catalogs, and Interface Builder that enable the unique experiences of Apple platforms. You’ll integrate feedback from customers and Apple’s internal design and engineering teams to improve our applications. You'll represent our team cross functionally, working with colleagues across Apple as we advance our tools and SDKs, and use these tools to build our operating systems. You’ll shape our SDKs, and enable innovative new features in applications across our platforms through tools.

In developer tools, you'll have the unique opportunity to directly improve your development environment by building features for the tools you’ll use every day.
Responsibilities
Collaborating with designers and frameworks teams to select, shape and scope features
Developing in Swift, and occasionally Objective-C
Authoring user interfaces with SwiftUI, and AppKit
Improving performance, fixing bugs, and writing tests
Communicating through pull requests, in-person conversations, and Slack
Triaging feedback from internal and external customers to steer quality, usability and features investments
Wholistically prioritizing, scoping, and scheduling features
Minimum Qualifications
BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Experience writing native UI applications for desktop or mobile operating systems
Preferred Qualifications
Experience authoring native desktop or mobile applications on any platform
Appreciation for engineering practices that maximize maintainability and quality
Thorough understanding of computer science fundamentals
Passion for continually accelerating development through better tools
Confidence, initiative and self-direction
Keen understanding of task selection and prioritization
Recognition of opportunity cost
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $126,800 and $220,900, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
