How will you make an impact in this role?
The Editor & Writer position for the American Express Newsroom will take a lead role in crafting and telling our company’s story. This role on the Corporate Communications team reports to the Editor-In-Chief and offers an exciting opportunity to drive innovation in how American Express communicates its key priorities and initiatives to its customers, colleagues, and communities.
The person in this role will be responsible for editing and writing content for the American Express Newsroom; participating in editorial planning, ideation and story mining meetings; researching, conducting interviews, curating, and publishing content; and shepherding stories through internal and external approvals.
The person in this role will work closely with the owned content team and with global colleagues in colleague and external communications to pursue and articulate the company’s many stories.
Specifically, we are looking for someone with excellent editing and writing skills, a passion for the American Express brand, a keen eye for identifying compelling story angles that highlight the unique attributes of our company and its culture, a collaborative attitude, and the ability to think creatively and receive and action feedback from a multitude of internal and external stakeholders. Ability to work under tight deadlines and a positive attitude a must.
Responsibilities
Edit and write content for the American Express Newsroom that reflects a consistent tone and puts the brand and its core narratives at the center of storytelling.
Work in tandem with a wide range of stakeholders including the external communications, corporate sustainability, marketing, B-to-B, talent acquisition, internal colleague communications and various other business units to story mine and bring compelling narratives to life.
Work as a team to measure impact of stories by tracking engagement and refining content mix accordingly.
Minimum Qualifications
6 years of editing, writing and editorial experience.
Strong editing, writing, research, interviewing, story mining and grammar skills.
Strong knowledge of digital, social media and GEO/SEO best practices.
Ability to work in a highly matrixed environment, with excellent communication and collaboration skills, agility, and a knack for forging strong relationships with a wide range of internal partners.
Strong time management and project management skills; ability to work confidently under tight deadlines while paying close attention to detail.
Willingness to dive into new opportunities and work with a "no task is too small" attitude.
Editing and writing samples required in addition to the successful completion of an edit test.
Preferred Qualifications
- Branded content background a plus.

Salary Range: $89,250.00 to $150,250.00 annually bonus benefits
