How will you make an impact in this role?
As VP, Global Dining Consumer Engineering, you will lead the consumer engineering organization responsible for mobile and web experiences across the Dining portfolio. You will partner closely with Product, Design, Data, and Business leaders to deliver a unified, best-in-class diner experience across brands.
This leader will shape the technical strategy for how millions of diners discover restaurants, book experiences, manage reservations, and engage with dining content. You must bring a strong consumer-first engineering mindset, deep empathy for users, and passion for hospitality and marketplace dynamics.
You will operate as both a strategic and hands-on technical leader, guiding architecture, influencing UX-driven engineering decisions, and building high-velocity teams capable of rapid experimentation and iteration.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Consumer Experience Engineering
Lead development of high-performance, intuitive consumer applications across iOS, Android, and web
Define front-end and mobile architecture patterns that support scalability, personalization, and real-time engagement
Drive performance, reliability, and UX quality across all consumer touchpoints
Product Partnership
Partner with Product and Design to translate vision into scalable technical roadmaps
Enable rapid experimentation, A/B testing, and data-driven feature iteration
Balance speed and innovation with platform consistency and long-term maintainability
Personalization & Data-Driven Experiences
Collaborate with Data and ML teams to embed personalization, recommendations, and intelligent ranking into consumer journeys
Leverage behavioral and transactional data to continuously improve engagement and retention
Integration Across Ecosystem
Ensure seamless integration between consumer apps and platform services, restaurant systems, loyalty capabilities, and Amex benefits
Drive unified identity, payments, and booking experiences across brands
Engineering Leadership
Build and scale high-performing engineering teams
Develop senior technical leaders and create a culture of operational excellence and accountability
Drive clarity in decision-making across a complex, multi-stakeholder environment
Partner with engineering leaders across Global Dining to build products that work equally well for diners and restaurants
Champion a learning-focused and ownership-driven engineering culture, and help engineers take advantage of AI coding tools
Qualifications:
15 years of experience in engineering, including 8 years in senior technology leadership roles
Proven experience building and scaling large-scale consumer mobile and web applications, with deep expertise in modern front-end architectures, mobile frameworks, and modern APIs
Demonstrated success delivering real-time, highly interactive consumer experiences, with strong capabilities in performance optimization, experimentation platforms, and analytics-driven product development
Proven ability to lead multi-team consumer engineering organizations in close partnership with Product, championing a customer-first approach that upholds high standards for user experience, execution quality, and delivery velocity
Familiarity with marketplace, commerce, or two-sided platform ecosystems, including the technical and operational dynamics that drive engagement and conversion
Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence executives and technical teams alike
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field; advanced degree preferred
Experience working in restaurants or restaurant tech is a big plus
Qualifications
Salary Range: $219,000.00 to $338,250.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
