Position Summary
The American Express Corporate Affairs & Communications (CA&C) team is a strategic function that works to enhance and protect the continued strength of the American Express brand through public relations, social media and content, colleague communications and Corporate Sustainability (CS).
Corporate Sustainability is hiring a Manager of Events and Partnerships to report to the Director of Events and Partnerships on the Community Impact team. This role is responsible for the day-to-day management and execution of community impact activations, events, and projects that support enterprise priorities. The Manager will also support the Director with execution of the American Express Academies portfolio.
The Manager will partner closely with the Director on strategy for the portfolio, and lead grantmaking and administration, event logistics, stakeholder engagement, compliance processes, and reporting for the Events & Partnerships portfolio, including initiatives in key American Express markets.
The ideal candidate brings strong experience in events, logistics, grants, relationship and project management within complex, matrixed environments. They are highly organized, solutions-oriented, creative and comfortable managing multiple priorities while ensuring compliance and attention to detail.
Day-to-day responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Events, Logistics, and Partnership Management
Lead day-to-day execution of community impact activations, events, and projects, including logistics planning, vendor coordination, on-site support, stakeholder engagement, and project management.
Act as a primary point of contact for activations and events, ensuring stakeholders are proactively engaged, informed, and aligned.
Support the Director with execution of the American Express Academies portfolio.
Manage relationships with external partners, including nonprofit and other strategic organization partners, venues, and/or agencies.
Ensure adherence to program timelines, deliverables, and enterprise processes.
Support risk vetting, legal approvals, and compliance requirements across markets.
Grant Management
Manage timely and compliant end-to-end grantmaking for the community impact events and partnerships portfolio.
Partner with the Director and CS Operations team to ensure grants are compliant with Foundation and Corporate philanthropy requirements.
Coordinate with grantees and internal teams to support impact data collection, data integrity, and reporting.
Identify opportunities to enhance existing grants and partnerships and support development of new initiatives.
Communications & Stakeholder Engagement
Partner with Communications colleagues to support development and timely execution of communications plans.
Ensure clarity of roles, responsibilities, and timelines across stakeholders.
Develop clear documentation and presentations to support internal alignment and leadership updates.
In partnership with CS Operations and other relevant business units, support the development of Foundation and Corporate philanthropy reports and Board of Trustees materials, ensuring accuracy and adherence to legal, regulatory, and governance requirements.
Innovation & Enterprise Collaboration
Stay informed on industry trends, insights, emerging practices, and innovative approaches related to community impact activations, events, partnerships, and grantmaking.
Introduce new ideas, potential partners, communications approaches, and engagement strategies aligned to business priorities.
Collaborate with Community Impact, Corporate Sustainability, and cross-enterprise teams to support innovation and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
3 years of experience in events management, strategy, logistics, production, and/or partnerships, preferably within a corporate philanthropy setting.
3 years of experience in program development and grant management, including familiarity with grantmaking systems and processes.
Excellent project management experience with strong documentation and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Experience managing multiple stakeholders and partnerships in a fast-paced, complex, matrixed environment.
Understanding of risk, compliance, and governance processes related to both grantmaking and events.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and accountability.
Collaborative team player with a solutions-oriented mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in financial services or other regulated industries.
Experience building and/or improving operational processes.
Strong external network relevant for events, partnerships, and philanthropic organizations.
Relevant educational or professional certifications.
Qualifications
Salary Range: $89,250.00 to $150,250.00 annually bonus benefits
