As an External Engagement Lead on our Trust & Safety team, you'll play a pivotal role in advancing responsible safety outcomes across Apple's platforms and products.

We are looking for a strategic and collaborative External Engagement Lead to champion our efforts in building trust and fostering dialogue with key external partners. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of online safety issues, strong communication skills including the ability to adapt to diverse audiences, and experience building and sustaining collaborative relationships.
Description
As the External Engagement Lead, you will be responsible for developing and executing external engagement strategies that support Apple's commitment to trust and safety. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure a consistent and credible safety messaging, and to incorporate external insights into our products and features, policies, and safety strategies.
Strategic External Engagement: Develop and implement comprehensive external engagement strategies related to trust and safety topics, including harmful content, online abuse, interpersonal and child safety.
Stakeholder Relationship Management: Identify, cultivate, and maintain positive relationships with subject matter experts, researchers, NGOs, advocacy groups, and other relevant external partners. Carry out open engagement with a wide user base, including experts and key stakeholders, on the development, interpretation and application of safety standards and their effectiveness or appropriateness.
Convening and Facilitation: Prepare and position Apple for expert convening, roundtables, and workshops, and develop, organize, and host briefings, listening sessions, and informational engagements
Systems & Process Coordination: Maintain organized contact tracking and engagement history, and build repeatable systems for external consultation processes, coordinating with internal partners.
Trust & Safety Communications: Ensure clear, consistent, and credible safety messaging aligned with Trust & Safety goals, and manage the editorial workflow for safety-related updates.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate closely with Public Relations, Government Affairs, Product Marketing, Online Safety Legal, policy, and operations teams on safety disclosures, transparency reports, and crisis communications.
Research & Knowledge Translation: Support tracking and accountability protocols for synthesizing external research and insights, and track academic, regulatory, and civil society developments in online safety.
Minimum Qualifications
5+ years of experience in roles such as external affairs, policy engagement, communications, trust & safety, or nonprofit/academic liaison.
Demonstrated background in policy, public interest technology, or online safety governance, with experience engaging with the public sector.
Excellent writing, communication, and relationship-building skills across diverse partner groups.
Demonstrated track record of coordination and engagement management in medium to large-scale organizations.
Familiarity with online harms discourse and current global debates in digital governance.
Ability to manage concurrent projects with flexibility to adaptand find proactive opportunities.
Willingness to travel as needed.
Ability to support across multiple time zones and willingness to work outside standard work hours regularly.

Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,300 and $263,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
