Manager – U.S. Pricing Strategy and Execution
The Global Merchant Services (GMS) Pricing team is responsible for the single largest source of American Express’ revenue: Merchant discount revenue. GMS Pricing works closely with multiple partners to determine the ideal pricing structure for merchant acceptance of American Express, while striving to improve coverage and merchant satisfaction.
The Manager in U.S. Pricing Strategy and Execution is responsible for supporting the development, approval, and execution of strategic pricing initiatives in a compliant manner. This role requires leveraging value-added insights to create compelling materials that inform and influence high-impact Senior Leadership decision-making. This position will also lead the development and oversight of robust pricing controls and issue management, ensuring that all documentation complies with relevant standards and policies to reinforce a strong control environment. The Manager will need to communicate effectively with critical internal stakeholders (e.g., General Counsel’s Office, Control Management, Client Management, Marketing, Technology).

Responsibilities
Support the development of high-impact pricing strategies that reinforce the strength of AXP’s value proposition and advance long-term growth, taking into consideration an evolving external landscape and merchant experience
Create comprehensive and understandable materials to enable Senior Leadership decision-making, synthesizing key initiatives and the financial impact of pricing decisions into actionable insights and structured recommendations
Drive cross-functional collaboration among internal stakeholders (e.g., Pricing, Marketing, General Counsel’s Office, Client Managers) to ensure alignment and decision-making
Lead the ongoing development of a robust pricing infrastructure, including documentation and mapping of critical internal processes and implementation of a strong control environment
Manage the maintenance of processes and policies, including annual updates to and creation of new documentation based on evolving business and regulatory requirements
Coordinate Issue Management and Operational Risk Event framework processes, including identifying pricing errors or gaps, proposing and implementing controls, and monitoring milestone progress
Act as the central liaison between Regional Pricing, Business Operations, and Control Management, facilitating necessary reviews and approvals and providing meaningful updates and reporting to Leadership
Support successful end-to-end execution of program updates to enable colleague confidence and consistent merchant experience, with a focus on translating pricing strategies for various audiences (e.g., Client Management, Marketing, Technology)
Qualifications
Qualifications
4 years of experience in consulting, strategy, or related experience
Demonstrated ability in drawing value-added insights and presenting compelling recommendations through effective verbal and written communication
Expertise in preparing PowerPoint presentations tailored to various audiences, including translating complex pricing structures and linking to business objectives
Genuine passion for strengthening control environments through governance frameworks that focus on structure, documentation excellence, and long-term sustainability
Demonstrated proficiency in creating high-quality documentation and governance routines that reinforce transparency and audit readiness in a high-impact environment. Proven capability in collaborating and leading discussions with Senior Leadership and cross-functional teams.
Thrives in roles that require precision and rigor, with proven excellence in prioritization and organization while working in an agile manner
Detail- and action-oriented individual able to work autonomously with limited direction
Proficiency in Excel strongly preferred
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Salary Range: $89,250.00 to $150,250.00 annually bonus benefits
