Here, your voice and ideas matter, your work makes an impact, and together, you will help us define the future of American Express.

The Enterprise Ways of Working (EWoW) team leads multi-year strategic initiatives that cut across product teams and Enterprise Centers of Excellence (COEs) to improve alignment, transparency, and outcomes. The team focuses on embedding modern ways of working into planning, delivery, and execution to enable better decisions and stronger business results.

The Senior Manager, Enterprise Portfolio Insights & Optimization plays a critical role in designing, delivering, and operationalizing portfolio reporting, insights, and measurement capabilities that support enterprise planning, delivery, productivity, and outcomes. This role emphasizes delivering high-quality insights, leveraging AI and automation, and embedding modern ways of working into how leaders make decisions and drive outcomes.

This position reports to the Director, Enterprise Portfolio Insights & Optimization and will be based in Sunrise, FL or New York, NY.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve enterprise reporting and measurement strategies to enable better, faster leadership decisions by defining and delivering high-impact insights across enterprise planning, delivery, productivity, and business outcomes—turning complex data into clarity leaders can act on.

  • Embed AI-enabled insights directly into reporting, tooling, and workflows to proactively surface trends, risks, and opportunities—shifting from static reporting to forward-looking decision support.

  • Design and operationalize portfolio governance models, including stage-gates, intake criteria, milestone governance, and decision rights, to support disciplined prioritization and lifecycle execution.

  • Implement a data governance strategy to strengthen data hygiene, consistency, and trust in partnership with source system owners and end users.

  • Lead bottleneck identification and lifecycle flow optimization across the Product Delivery Lifecycle (PDLC), using data, automation, and AI-augmented analysis to improve speed, throughput, and productivity.

  • Design and build beautiful, executive-ready dashboards and presentations that translate portfolio data into clear, intuitive, and visually compelling stories, setting the standard for insight quality across enterprise reporting platforms.

  • Inform and shape tooling requirements to enable end-to-end traceability across planning, delivery, and outcomes, ensuring insights are grounded in connected, reliable data across the PDLC.

  • Develop executive materials, decision frameworks, and change management artifacts that support leadership alignment and enterprise adoption of new processes and insights.

  • Identify and operationalize process opportunities that embed modern ways of working into how insights are reviewed, decisions are made, and actions are taken—aligning execution with leadership forums.

  • Leverage AI and automation to eliminate manual effort and elevate insight quality, building scalable workflows that accelerate analysis, executive storytelling, and enterprise adoption.

  • Translate complex portfolio and delivery data into clear, intuitive, and executive-ready stories, setting a high bar for insight quality, clarity, and visual design.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 6 years of experience across portfolio management, strategy, analytics, product, or program leadership within large, complex enterprises.

  • Significant experience designing and operationalizing enterprise reporting, measurement, governance, or lifecycle frameworks driving transformation.

  • Strong program leadership skills, with a proven ability to drive complex, cross-enterprise initiatives and influence outcomes without formal ownership.

  • Proven ability to identify bottlenecks and optimize lifecycle flow using data-driven analysis, systems thinking, and structured problem solving.

  • Advanced experience developing executive-ready dashboards, analytics, and decision materials that translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.

  • Strong technical fluency across analytics and reporting tools, including Power BI, Tableau, advanced Excel, data modeling, and Python (or equivalent).

  • Demonstrated, hands-on adoption of modern AI tools and platforms—including Replit, Claude, ChatGPT / custom GPTs, and related agentic or automation tools—to accelerate analysis, insight generation, and ways of working.

  • Proven experience applying AI and automation to improve planning, delivery, measurement, and decision-support workflows, with a focus on scalable, repeatable impact.

  • Expert working with enterprise delivery and portfolio tooling such as Jira, Rally, Clarity, Apptio Target Process, and Confluence.

  • Exceptional executive communication and influence skills, with the ability to shape clear narratives, recommendations, and change artifacts for senior audiences.

  • Deep knowledge of AI/ML and LLM concepts and tools (e.g., applied use of modern AI assistants or agentic tooling) and eagerness to apply them in practical ways.
