Be part of the Hardware Test Engineering (HWTE) team as a Display Metrology Technologist and shape the future of display technology with a cross-disciplinary team that values collaboration, creativity and innovation. You will work on next-generation products with the Display Technology group to develop advanced display calibration and test metrology, identify and resolve design challenges and to deliver innovative Apple products with outstanding user experience.

Description

As a Display Metrology Technologist, you will develop objective display metrology solutions for calibration and testing of the display of Apple products during New Product Introduction (NPI) stage with support from cross-functional teams.
Participate in FMEA for new display technology during design phase and collaborate with cross-functional teams to build end-to-end calibration and test strategy.
Design objective metrology system with good balance of engineering requirements, development cycle time and cost efficiency.
Build metrology prototypes to conduct critical validation experiments to prove system design performance.
Generate reliable data-driven report that reveal or predict hidden risks and accelerate design convergence for new display architectures.
Apply optical modeling, simulation and machine learning to assist data-driven decision making and continuous system improvement.

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. Degree in Optics, Physics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering with 3+ years of relevant industry experience.

  • Experience in developing metrology systems including HW and SW integration, with a strong passion about this field.

  • Solid Knowledge in imaging optics, image processing, display and color science and familiarity with optical metrology tools, e.g. colorimeters, spectrometers, digital camera and light sources.

  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages: Matlab/C++/Lua/Python.

  • Up to 10% domestic + international traveling

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS or Ph.D in Optics, Physics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field.

  • Hands-on experience in display or optical metrology development.

  • Proficiency with industrial optical instruments, especially imaging system.

  • Strong problem solving skills with proactive, can-do mindset and able to take initiatives in uncharted zone.

  • Solid understanding of EE principles and their impact on display performance and failure modes.

  • Proven ability to plan, design, and execute experiments under limited resources or incomplete information.

  • Excellent interpersonal and technical communication skills.
