We are seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer with a passion for applying machine learning and generative AI to create intelligent, personal search solutions for Apple products. You will research and develop novel approaches in query understanding, ranking, and ML modeling—building the technology that enables seamless and delightful search and assistant experiences across Apple products.

Description

This role offers the opportunity to research and develop personalized text, image, and multimodal retrieval and ranking models, while driving improvements and scalable evaluations that impact millions of Apple users and advance the broader AIML community.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in Machine Learning, NLP/CV, and applying these techniques at scale

  • Proficiency in software engineering with mainstream programming languages such as Python, Go, or C/C++ Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • Bachelor in Computer Science with relevant industry experience

Preferred Qualifications

    • Deep expertise in applying and evaluating deep learning models and large language models (LLMs)
  • Extensive experience building production-quality systems in search, recommendation, or personal assistant domains

  • Hands-on proficiency with modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX, TensorFlow, or XGBoost

  • Proven ability to rapidly prototype solutions and perform critical analysis

  • Strong background in personalization and data-driven decision making

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $181,100 and $318,400, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
