We are seeking an International Quality Engineering Lead to represent our team in regions, driving internationalization test strategy, automation, and reporting. This role blends technical depth with high-visibility leadership, requiring strong communication to engage with senior leadership, technical expertise to act as the Directly Responsible Individual (DRI) for i18n projects, and project management skills to deliver clear, actionable results. You will ensure our global products meet the highest quality standards while collaborating across multiple time zones.
Description
As the International Quality Engineering Lead, you’ll take ownership of functional testing across locales and ensure products meet the highest international quality standards. You’ll represent the team in sponsor reviews and senior leadership discussions, providing clear updates and recommendations. Beyond testing, you’ll identify infrastructure and tooling needs and partner with dedicated teams to drive improvements. This role requires extensive cross-team collaboration and combines hands-on technical work with strategic leadership, giving you the opportunity to shape both the quality of our global user experience and the way our teams work together. Technical skills & experience we're looking for in this hire are:
Proficient in Swift testing and/or XCTest frameworks
Strong experience in automation engineering using Python and related frameworks
Hands-on experience with functional testing, test planning, automation scripts and test reporting tools
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, test infrastructure, and tooling to support internationalization testing
Ability to evaluate, design, and optimize test frameworks for complex, multi-locale applications
Responsibilities
Represent the team in sponsor reviews and leadership forums, providing clear updates and addressing questions
Own functional testing across locales, defining test scope, priorities, and execution plans
Drive automation and reporting to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and visibility of test results
Act as DRI for International projects, ensuring timely delivery and quality outcomes
Collaborate across multi-timezone teams to align requirements, share results, and resolve issues
Identify infrastructure and tooling needs, and partner with responsible teams to implement solutions
Communicate project status, risks, and recommendations effectively to both technical and executive audiences
Mentor and guide peers on International best practices and quality standards
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
8+ years of proven experience in software quality engineering, including functional and International testing
Proven track record as DRI for sophisticated projects, driving end-to-end test planning, execution, and reporting
Strong technical expertise in automation, test frameworks, and quality metrics
Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience representing teams to senior leadership
Experience leading multi-functional, multi-timezone teams and driving project delivery independently
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
10+ years of experience in software quality engineering, with extensive internationalization (i18n) testing experience
Proven leadership in high-visibility, cross-functional projects, acting as DRI and influencing senior stakeholders
Deep expertise in test automation frameworks, tooling, and reporting for complex, global products
Experience designing and implementing i18n test strategies across multiple locales and platforms
Strong mentoring and team development skills, guiding peers and junior engineers on best practices
Track record of driving process improvements in testing and quality operations at scale
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $212,000 and $318,400, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
