We are looking for a Display Engineer for the development of OLED Displays for iPhone products. This individual should bring a passion for delivering the best front of screen performance and expect to collaborate on the requirement definition, design and validation of display modules at both the components and system level. This individual serves as a focal point between the system design team, the display EE team, display mechanical team, the supply base management team, and display suppliers, managing all activities vital to deliver displays into final products from initial concept to production.
Description
On this team, we investigate and collaborate with internal and external partners to define the display module specs for new iPhone projects. You will be a key part of an internal multi-functional engineering project team across; optical, electrical, mechanical and panel technical domains. You will also frequently engage and collaborate with display suppliers as the primary technical contact window.
This role has responsibility for performing vital display performance testing and reviewing data provided by display vendors, system OEMs, and multi-functional groups at Apple to ensure the performance specifications are met. In addition, identifying all open engineering issues and driving them to closure with efficiency to support project needs. This person will ensure display goals are met for engineering builds and initial mass production while addressing issues from initial ramp and field returns related to displays and qualification of solutions. International travel is required for this position.
Minimum Qualifications
BS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or similar, and a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience.
Technical experience in a subset of the following fields: optical design and characterization, optical and/or human visual physics, semiconductor optoelectronics, display technologies, optical sensor technologies.
Expertise in bench-top and industry standard optical measurement systems (characterization, test, and validation).
Experience with programming languages used for data acquisition (Python, LabVIEW), statistical analysis (JMP, MATLAB) and/or optical simulation tools (LightTools).
Preferred Qualifications
PhD or Masters degree.
Knowledge and experience in OLED display specific optics.
Expertise in failure analysis connecting optical device performance to design requirements and/or process outcomes.
Expertise in display module engineering and mass production procedures.
Excellent project management, communication and collaboration skills.
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 and $312,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
