How will you make an impact in this role?

The Cyber Analytics Platform Engineering – Engineer I role is a high-impact resource of the Cyber Platform Engineering program that is responsible for architecting and deploying highly performant, scalable, and resilient security analytics observability tools for the Technology Risk Analytics department.

Description

This position will place the individual into an observability platform engineering role, with a sphere of responsibilities relevant to:

  • Full stack platform observability architecture and observability lifecycle management. This encompasses every layer of an observability platform inclusive of the following layers: physical hardware, hypervisor, datacenter networking, cloud networking, operating system, distributing computing frameworks (ETL-focused), databases, Kubernetes platforms, microservice applications, and monolithic applications.

  • Observability Platform Engineering Consultant. This individual will act as a senior observability engineer to guide security analysts, security development teams, and security operations teams in the appropriate usage of existing observability platforms and elicit enhancements to the present observability products portfolio. This is inclusive of written documentation and the definition/creation of Standard Operating Procedures for operations-driven observability products and their related Operational Support/Maintenance activities.

  • This role will work with the Director of Cyber Platform Engineering but will commonly have an audience with our Incident Response, Cyber Platform Operations, Cyber Data Engineering, and Cyber Data Science groups.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field preferred (or equivalent work experience)

  • Must have at least 3 years of hands-on Linux, VMware, and Windows system administration experience

  • Must have at least 2 years of hands-on experience of Docker and Kubernetes administration experience.

  • Must have hands-on experience deploying microservice applications through CI/CD toolchains in a Kubernetes environment.

  • Must have foundational experience working with Datacenter Technologies and Datacenter Planning, including: physical server installs, L2 switching requirements, L3 routing considerations, network capacity management, and enterprise network firewalls

  • Must have at least 2 years of hands-on experience with one of these languages: bash, ansible, Powershell, Python, Rust

  • Should have strong functional knowledge of at least 2 of the following observability technologies: Prometheus, Grafana, Kibana, FluentD/FluentBit

  • Should have at least 2 years experience with system performance monitoring tools for solving Windows/Linux system issues.

  • Should have install/admin experience with at least one of these RDBMS and Search technologies: ElasticSearch, MySQL, PostgreSQL 12.x and above

  • Solid understanding of X.509 with PKI, LDAP/AD authentication, and RBAC security controls is a must.

  • Solid experience working as an independent multi-functional platform engineer, with a high proficiency towards the definition/creation of IT Infrastructure Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) relevant towards the following technology layers: dashboard creation/maintenance, log collection, system metric collection, application metric collection, load-balancing, and Kubernetes platforms.

  • Solid experience with documenting and if required, mentoring operations staff for SOPs related to the following observability platform activities: platform resource scaling, Kubernetes application maintenance operations, Kubernetes application deployments, and Kubernetes application upgrades

  • Solid understanding of ITSM frameworks and organizational change standard methodologies is a must.

  • Must be fluent in MS Office Tools: MS Excel, MS Visio

  • Should have strong organizational, documentation, communication, and team coordination skills.

  • Should have experience driving IT infrastructure delivery initiatives within large scale environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred to have at least 2 years of experience supporting observability efforts for large-scale distributed computing platforms.

  • Preferred to have at least 2 years of experience supporting observability efforts for large-scale distributed data infrastructure environments.

  • Preferred to have at least 3 years of experience building/supporting distributed observability systems, such as: Thanos, Dynatrace, TSDB

  • Preferred to have experience with supporting/monitoring at least one of the following software distributions: Hortonworks Data Platform, Hortonworks Data Flow, Cloudera Data Platform, Cloudera Data Flow, Confluent Platform, Apache NiFi

  • Preferred to have experience with configuring/supporting at least one of the following Database/Search Platforms: ElasticSearch, Apache Trino, Grafana

  • Preferred to have hands-on experience with at least one of these infrastructure storage technologies: AWS S3, MinIO, Cloudian, Dell ECS

Qualifications

Salary Range: $85,000.00 to $150,000.00 annually bonus benefits
