About Global Real Estate & Workplace Experience (GREWE)

Global Real Estate and Workplace Experience (GREWE) is a global team at American Express (Amex) responsible for the full lifecycle of planning, execution, and operations of Amex real estate. GREWE supports over 75,000 Amex colleagues and contractors in over eight million square feet of property located in 59 countries. Our real estate portfolio consists of large full-service campuses, office buildings, sales offices, airport lounges and data centers. The global GREWE team is comprised of ~100 Amex full time staff that leverage ~5,000 contractors and is part of the broader Global Servicing Group organization which delivers shared business services to colleagues across the enterprise. Global Leadership and Governance Responsibilities

A summary of key responsibilities include:

his position will lead the Project Management Office (PMO) for a large, complex, and multi-stakeholder program. The PMO Lead will be responsible for driving program governance, ensuring robust risk and issue management, and maintaining high-quality reporting and control mechanisms across the program lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and analytical skills, and a proven track record in delivering enterprise-level programs.

The candidate will have strong communications and leadership skills, an ability to lead cross-functional collaboration and foster strong working relationships. This role will be help lead executive level engagements, helping drive decisions, provide program updates and ensure transparency and accuracy in reporting.

Other deliverables include:

  • Develop a robust governance framework and program playbook including but not limited to meeting and calendar governance, meeting materials and documentation, RACI and ways of working framework

  • Responsible for the issue of Weekly/Monthly Program Dashboards, Executive Steering Committee Reports, KPIs and Status Trend Reports

  • Development and ongoing management of RAIDD Logs and Dashboards, Risk Heatmaps, Mitigation Plans and Dependency Maps

  • Support the Integrated Master Schedule and Milestone Tracker and Resource Allocation reviews.

  • Develop PMO Playbook, Standard Templates Repository, Onboarding Materials, Lessons Learned Reports

  • Develop Program Team Communications Strategy & Ways of Working. internal & external Stakeholder Maps.

  • Establishing and managing a document control system

Executive Engagements

This role will have frequent interaction with the SVP of GREWE and the President of Enterprise Shared Services, and on occasion with other AXP executive committee members. This leader will demonstrate the ability to interact with these senior executives with ease, and also dive deep into details when necessary, interacting with project team members at all levels. The role is expected to frequently present to the GREWE SVP

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and manage program governance frameworks (committees, approval gates, RACI models).

  • Schedule and facilitate governance forums (Steering Committees, Program Boards), ensuring effective decision-making.

  • Ensure adherence to organizational policies, standards, and compliance requirements.

  • Maintain up-to-date documentation and logs for audits and reviews.

  • Own the development and delivery of consolidated program reporting (weekly/monthly dashboards, executive packs).

  • Define KPIs and metrics for program performance, benefits tracking, and delivery health.

  • Source and validate data from workstream leads, finance, procurement and technical teams to ensure accuracy.

  • Provide forward-looking insights, trend analysis, and recommendations to leadership.

  • Design and manage the RAIDD framework and tooling.

  • Drive proactive identification, assessment, and mitigation of risks and issues.

  • Track cross-program dependencies and support resolution/escalation processes.

  • Report risk exposure and mitigations to stakeholders.

  • Support creation and maintenance of integrated program plans and milestone tracking.

  • Align planning efforts across delivery workstreams and external vendors.

  • Facilitate capacity planning and resource forecasting.

  • Highlight and escalate resourcing risks and constraints.

  • Define and maintain PMO standards, templates, and tools to support consistency.

  • Onboard new project managers and ensure tool usage compliance.

  • Lead continuous improvement of PMO processes and automation opportunities.

  • Act as a center of excellence for project governance methodologies

  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders including sponsors, delivery leads, and third-party vendors.

  • Manage communications strategy for program reporting and stakeholder updates.

  • Support conflict resolution and alignment on critical decisions.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 10 years’ experience years of experience in a PMO, program management, or portfolio management role within complex organizations

  • 10 years’ work experience project or program management supporting corporate real estate portfolios, with a clear understanding of the project process.

  • Demonstrable experience in managing governance, reporting, and RAID processes on multi-million-dollar programs.

  • Ability to translate complex data into and compelling business cases, analyses and program plans, tailored various stakeholder groups

  • Proactive critical thinking and qualitative/quantitative problem-solving skills (issue identification, problem structuring, analysis, development of recommendations)

  • Exceptional Project Management skills, including ability to lead teams (both Internal & External) build dashboards, presentations and track metrics, and assemble project information into clearly written report that document findings and recommendation and communicate progress.

  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to focus on details while not losing sight of the big picture

  • Ability to easily partner with and influence senior leaders across the AXP organization

  • Strong team player, ability to take direction and remain flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.

  • University/Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Project Management, Program Management or equivalent. Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Real Estate experience

  • PMO or project management certification (PMP, MSP, PRINCE2, MoP, P3O) is preferred.

  • Expertise in PMO tools such as Microsoft Project, Power BI, SharePoint or Planview

Salary Range: $130,000.00 to $205,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
