Job Description
Purpose
The Field Access & Reimbursement Manager is a strategic leadership role responsible for guiding and developing a regional team of Field Reimbursement Specialists. This role will drive strategic initiatives that enhance the understanding and implementation of AbbVie's patient experience programs, with a strong emphasis on access and reimbursement support. The FARM will ensure the team's success through effective coaching, innovative problem solving, and robust collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. This role will also ensure the FRS team effectively engages customers to navigate key access and reimbursement aspects such as coverage, coding, payment, product acquisition, and affordability within the Puerto Rico healthcare context. As a people-focused leader, the Field Access & Reimbursement Manager will be instrumental in shaping a high-performing team that exemplifies AbbVie's commitment to delivering exceptional patient and customer experiences.
Responsibilities
Ensure team adheres to AbbVie's established ways of working, maintaining high standards of compliance and operational excellence.
Lead the team in developing and executing strategic plans to educate healthcare professionals (HCPs) on critical topics such as coverage, coding, payment, product acquisition, and affordability. Tailor these strategies to effectively meet the unique healthcare dynamics of Puerto Rico.
Oversee and mentor a team of FRS, focusing on skill development, customer engagement strategies, and professional growth
Dedicate substantial time accompanying FRS on field rides, providing hands-on coaching and mentorship. Ensure the effective and compliant use of tools, approved materials, key messaging, and patient services and access resources.
Build and maintain strong, productive relationships with internal stakeholders, including Patient Services, Market Access, Trade, Sales and Marketing, and the Access and Reimbursement Hub. Act as a liaison to ensure objectives are aligned and collaboration is effective, while communicating patient services and access program information to Sales and Marketing teams in a compliant manner.
Collaborate with peers in Market Access and Trade to stay informed of the evolving healthcare landscape and communicate relevant information to the FRS team.
Lead the team in establishing rigorous quality control measures, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement to meet and exceed AbbVie’s expectations within the guardrails.
Encourage the team to proactively identify and address challenges, developing and implementing appropriate access solutions that enhance team performance and customer satisfaction.
Utilize analytical tools to monitor call activity and team capacity, ensuring optimal performance and resource allocation.
Develop and present progress reports effectively integrating insight, trends, market intelligence and field dynamics as well as essentials access documents for field deployment.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in science, business, public health, pharmacy or relevant and equivalent industry experience required.
Minimum 4 years of experience in patient support, managed healthcare or market access roles, focusing on prior authorization, formulary coverage, coding, field reimbursement education or equivalent patient access support role.
Minimum 4 years leading field teams, with proven success in coaching, management, or co-management, and personnel development
Track record of strong leadership contributions.
In-depth understanding of payer policy processes and coverage, coding, and payment requirements for specialty medicines.
Proven ability to navigate the complexities of reimbursement support services, with a strong grasp of the associated rules, regulations, and risk mitigation strategies.
Comprehensive understanding of Commercial, Medicare/Medicare Platino and Medicaid dynamics
Strong knowledge of drug acquisition and dispensing processes, including the roles of specialty pharmacies, distributors, and/or practices such as white-bagging and brown-bagging.
Fluent in both English and Spanish, with excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Key Stakeholders
Internal: All local, USA and global relevant functions in matrix. External: Healthcare Providers, Office Staff, Service Providers for Patient Support Programs, and Third-Party Vendors.
