MCR Safety and Tingley, a division of Bunzl, is seeking a Controller to be based at the MCR Safety headquarters in Collierville, TN. The Controller will oversee and manage various accounting operations within the organization to include SAP Division 50 trial balance/reporting, accounts payable, import operations, rebates, commissions, tax compliance and coordinating the company’s Internal Control Compliance Program.

Responsibilities:
Manage accounting activities associated with SAP Division 50, including managing trial balance, processing journals, and ensuring required reconciliations, analysis and reporting are completed on a timely basis
Monitor and control the end-to-end accounts payable process, including invoice receipt, approval, coding, and payment
Develop and implement accounts payable policies and procedures to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements
Coordinate and manage import operations functions, including documentation, compliance, and cost management
Ensure deliveries are processed accurately and in a timely manner
Administer and track rebate programs, ensuring accurate calculation and timely payment
Ensure compliance with Canadian GST requirements, accurate calculation and timely filing of returns and payments
Coordinate with Corporate Tax department on collection of data for Sales & Use Tax and others as needed
Act as the liaison between the company and subsidiaries and the Corporate Internal Audit Team to coordinate internal audit efforts
Monitor and coordinate the completion of annual CSA (Control Self-Assessment), Supplier High Risk Spend Reporting, and various audit/mitigating controls reporting
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate existing internal controls, policies, and procedures; recommend and implement improvements to ensure compliance with the corporate internal control framework
Conduct regular risk assessments globally to identify potential areas of control weakness and develop strategies to mitigate risks
Lead, mentor, and develop the team, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance, as well as setting clear objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs)
Keep abreast of changes in corporate polices, communication of changes, and ensure necessary adjustments are made to maintain compliance
Liaise with external auditors, regulators, and other stakeholders on internal control and risk-related matters
Monitor and analyze key performance and risk indicators to identify trends and emerging risks to be communicated to senior management and stakeholders
Collaborate with Finance team to support various financial projects, including systems implementations, process improvements and ad hoc analysis
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA, CMA, CIA certification preferred
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in Accounting, Internal Control, Risk Management, Audit, or a similar role within a corporate environment
Strong understanding of internal control frameworks and experience in their application
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex data and identify control deficiencies and potential risks
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate and communicate complex information across all levels of the organization
Proven ability to lead and manage teams and projects, including the implementation of new controls or process improvements
Ability to work independently, make decisions under pressure, and prioritize tasks effectively
Strategic thinker with the ability to make data-driven decisions and drive process improvements
Experience with financial software systems such as SAP, Cognos TM1 or Hyperion HFM preferred
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications

Education
Preferred
- Bachelor of Arts or better in Accounting
Experience
Required
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
Strong understanding of internal control frameworks and experience in their application
5-7 years: experience in accounting, internal control, risk management, audit, or a similar role within a corporate environment.
