Job Description

Purpose

The Manager, Accommodations, is responsible for:

  • Implementing reasonable accommodations for job seekers and employees requesting job modifications/accommodations

  • Providing specialized consultation and subject matter expertise in evaluating accommodation requests, in compliance with regulatory requirements and AbbVie’s policies/procedures

  • Educating and coaching people leaders, HR colleagues and stakeholders on the accommodation process

  • Collaborating with people leaders to implement job modifications/accommodations and coordinating implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Provides expert consultative and problem-solving services to employees, job seekers, people leaders, and other stakeholders on a variety of accommodation-related requests.

  • Ensures compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, policies and practices.

  • Effectively and efficiently manage accommodation cases, handling matters with a range of complexity. Management includes analysis, timely and comprehensive recommendations on a case-by-case basis utilizing the interactive process and engaging with applicable stakeholders.

  • Independent thinking and decision making guided by regulatory requirements and AbbVie’s policies/procedures and principles.

  • Effectively and accurately maintains confidential employee and HR data in compliance with AbbVie’s policies and procedures. Appropriately document information related to cases and recommended outcomes.

  • Possess and maintains subject matter expertise on the accommodation process to include regulatory statutes and ordinances (e.g., ADAA) for employees, people leaders and stakeholders

  • Works collaboratively with HR and Legal colleagues on employment matters. Provide guidance, expertise and support under general supervision.

  • Builds and fosters relationships with management and stakeholders.

  • Takes a broad view of matters, evaluating alternatives and assessing impact before applying a solution. Able to execute while balancing risk and business objectives.

  • Projects and training in support of role and departmental objectives.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Human Resources, Employee Relations or related discipline.

  • Minimum of 5-7 years’ work experience in Human Resources or related disciplines, with a minimum of 3 years’ accommodation-related experience.

  • Demonstrated understanding in return-to-work strategies and accommodation related expertise, to include: accommodation related regulatory (federal/state/local) laws and requirement, workforce policies, ADAA, FMLA, Workers' Compensation, and ergonomics.

  • Strong critical thinking, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills utilizing independent judgment to appropriately apply knowledge of policy, regulatory requirements as well as AbbVie’s policies/practices to resolve matters.

  • Superior organizational, case management and documentation skills to achieve effective outcomes in a timely manner. Can effectively manage workload and reprioritize as applicable. Ability to work effectively and make decisions in a matrixed work environment.

  • Confident decision-making and ability to effectively communicate the analysis supporting the decision, through effective verbal and written communications

  • Demonstrated ability to diffuse emotional situations while maintaining professionalism, objectivity, dignity and respect

  • Strong collaborative and partnering skills, to appropriately influence to achieve a defensible resolution

  • Strong leadership and project management skills

  • Proficient in MS Office – Windows environment

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. ?

Salary: $106,500 - $202,500
