The Swift Platform Experience organization is looking for an experienced Senior Manager to lead the SwiftUI team. This person will oversee multiple sub-teams with responsibility both for internal team deliverables and for providing guidance, support, and alignment to many other teams across Apple.

The SwiftUI team is responsible for a wide range of activities, including the development of:
- the SwiftUI framework, both for app development and for other technologies like widgets and live activities
- the Controls framework, which enables integration with features like Lock Screen buttons and Control Center
- the AttributeGraph and RenderBox frameworks, which provide infrastructure on which SwiftUI and other technologies rely
- the Swift Charts framework, supporting the display of complex graphs and charts across Apple’s platforms

Description

The role includes responsibility for overseeing the strategic and tactical direction of these frameworks and related technologies, ensuring the experience of developing apps for Apple’s platforms with these key technologies remains at the leading edge.

The successful candidate will be a seasoned leader with a strong background in iOS software development, ideally with substantial experience in UI framework development as well. You will be responsible for overseeing the shape of the team itself, managing multiple individual sub-teams, ensuring successful partnership with multiple cross-functional teams, and driving the strategic direction of declarative UI development for Apple’s platforms. The ability to lead a large group of senior engineers while providing strategic guidance, making critical decisions, and managing external stakeholder expectations will be crucial to the team’s success.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or equivalent experience

  • 5-10 years of senior leadership experience leading software engineering teams

  • A proven track record of strategic leadership of a large team, and a history of completing critical initiatives

  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with a focus on team building and individual development

Preferred Qualifications

  • Develop and implement both strategic and tactical plans for SwiftUI and its related frameworks, taking in to consideration the needs of multiple external partners

  • Oversee and mentor a team of managers and engineers, creating a culture of inclusion, collaboration, and excellence

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with multiple multi-functional teams, both within Tools & Frameworks and across Apple

  • Influence the direction of the work of other related teams including Swift, Xcode, HI, apps, and many other frameworks

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $252,400 and $378,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
