How will you make an impact in this role?

This position will play a critical role within the Line of Business Compliance (LOBCO) organization supporting the Amex Digital Labs portfolio, an enterprise-wide innovation engine for the company that originates, incubates, and manages products/platforms that are essential to customers’ daily lives. The portfolio includes emerging technologies such as digital payments, digital wallets, AI-powered solutions, Web3 and crypto, and digital membership experiences, with a focus on new product development.

As a LOBCO, the successful candidate will support the LOBCO team in building and overseeing an effective framework for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. In addition to supporting an effective compliance risk management oversight program for the Digital Labs business unit, this position will provide advisory risk management to promote safe and scalable innovation. This is a highly visible and strategic position with regular senior leader interaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as compliance subject matter expert in consumer protection, privacy and emerging A.I., Web3 and crypto regulations.

  • Support new initiatives through the New Product Approval (NPA) process with a strong analytical focus on controls, testing, and ongoing monitoring to implement effective processes.

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with business colleagues and internal stakeholders (e.g. other Global Risk and Compliance colleagues, General Counsel Office, Control Management, Independent Compliance Testing, Privacy, Internal Audit Group

  • Support an effective Compliance program including Compliance Risk Assessment (CRA) and Regulatory Change Management (RCM) and contribute to the Business Unit Compliance Assessments (BUCA) and Annual Compliance Plan (ACP).

  • Provide effective challenges throughout the Issue Management process to support timely closure of milestones and appropriate resolution of compliance gaps in business systems and processes.

  • Review customer-facing materials (marketing, servicing, user journeys) to effectively mitigate compliance risk.

  • Support regulatory examinations and internal/external audits as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to research, assess, and determine regulatory impact to business initiatives, and influence decisions accordingly.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. consumer protection laws and regulations

  • Strong understanding of digital and mobile products & platforms.

  • Strong project management skills, ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions independently, work well under pressure, meet deadlines and adapt easily to frequent change.

  • Strong creativity and collaborative skills and experience leading and working in a matrixed and agile environment and on cross-functional teams.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proactive, results-oriented, and self-driven

  • Prior banking, compliance, legal or risk work experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to emerging regulatory AI and crypto guidance and supervisory opinions.

  • Experience with AI products, Web3 products and/or crypto wallets

Qualifications

Salary Range: $89,250.00 to $150,250.00 annually bonus benefits
