The American Express Corporate Affairs & Communications (CA&C) team is a strategic function that works to enhance and protect the continued strength of the American Express brand through public relations, social media and content, colleague communications, and corporate sustainability initiatives.
The director supports internal communications for the Global Servicing organization, comprised of 30,000 colleagues and responsible for all card, travel, and concierge customer service functions for the company’s global consumer, banking, merchant, and commercial customers, as well as key enablement functions that power products and services.
This multi-faceted role requires a talented and flexible professional able to work across all levels of the organization. The director will work closely with the Global Servicing President and their executive office, CA&C leaders, and senior business partners to help plan and manage strategic communications for the Global Servicing organization. The position reports to a Vice President, CA&C.
How will you make an impact in this role?
Manage client relationships and provide internal and executive communications support to Global Servicing President/Executive Committee member and teams across the Global Servicing organization.
Develop creative and impactful global communication strategies and approaches that help engage colleagues, keep them informed of business priorities, and articulate complex changes across a variety of channels.
Manage and develop a variety of internal communications materials, including organization announcements, leader messages, communications plans, video treatments and scripts, blogs, social media posts, talking points, and FAQs.
Oversee broader Global Servicing editorial strategy and Center of Excellence team to develop clear and compelling content and features for the business unit intranet site.
Provide end-to-end event management support for global town halls, leader forums, executive meetings.
Work cross-functionally to manage communications planning for the rollout of initiatives and changes across Global Servicing, as well as provide support for strategic projects which benefit the business and colleagues.
Counsel senior leaders on how best to inform and engage Global Servicing colleagues around the world.
Provide strategic guidance to business partners regarding sensitive, colleague, customer, and public affairs issues.
People Leader responsibilities for two direct reports.
As needed, work with CA&C teams to promote our world-class service externally and protect the American Express brand. This may include assessing and supporting external speaking engagements and media opportunities for senior leaders.
Minimum Qualifications
8 –15 years of corporate communications or public relations experience.
Proven ability to create and implement effective colleague communications plans serving broad or global audiences that have driven tangible results.
Established ability to influence and counsel key internal stakeholders and leaders while managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
Superior written, verbal, editing skills with strong attention to detail. Ability to distill complex topics/issues into clear and impactful messages.
Innovative thinker who is comfortable in a fast-paced environment and can think independently, quickly, and apply good judgment. Thoughtful and adaptable in time-sensitive situations and able to pivot as needed.
Creative, self-motivated team player, with proven ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues around the globe to support large-scale initiatives.
Experience working across a variety of multi-media and communication channels, including company intranet, social media, live events, and video.
Ability to lead and influence teams, including both direct and indirect reports.
Bachelor's degree required.

Salary Range: $123,000.00 to $215,250.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
