Description
APPLE INC has the following available in San Diego, California. Design and develop software to improve battery life and performance for Apple's iOS devices. Model power consumed by different parts of the system. Develop analytics to understand largescale battery life trends. Work closely with many cross-functional teams to optimize power on software features across all layers in the stack. Improve battery life using solid testing methodology and debugging software and hardware. Develop real-time analysis mechanisms to detect/mitigate issues and use analytics to understand large scale trends. Design software architectures to detect battery and performance issues. Debug and rectify triage issues related to iOS, watchOS, and macOS power monitoring software. Analyze data collected from power systems to identify trends and opportunities for optimization. Implement software components that detect power and thermal related issues, including excessive resource consumption, inefficient network communication, errors in system logic, etc. Conduct thorough testing of software components to ensure reliability, accuracy, and compliance with specifications, including unit testing, integration testing, and system testing. Participate in regular sync-ups, planning sessions, and discussions to align with team members, address project progress, identify challenges, and strategize upcoming tasks. Participate in code reviews, providing feedback to team members and addressing feedback received. 20% Domestic Travel Required. 40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $139,500 - $210,100/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer and Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience and/or education must include:
Utilizing C/C++,Python, or Swift to design and develop code bases for power triage
Utilizing data management tools including git to manage code bases
Utilizing understanding of systems concept (HW/SW) to solve power problems
Using Continuous Integration and deployment (CI/CD) to deploy software into production
Translating high level design requirements into functional specifications and code
Using interactive debugger (e.g. Xcode) or system logs to identify issues to debug software
Understanding, visualizing and presenting data to senior engineers
Utilizing unit test frameworks including XCTest to write, manage and maintain unit tests for code bases
Utilizing C++ or Python programming languages, to implement an automated issue tracking system to power issues
