Description

APPLE INC has the following available in Cupertino, California and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. Design, develop, test, and evaluate integrated systems for managing industrial production processes, including human work factors, quality control, inventory control, logistics and material flow, cost analysis, and production coordination. Conduct detailed failure analysis and drive corrective actions along with engineering teams and contract manufacturers to support technical readiness during program development cycle. Drive project quality issues on material, process, fixtures and equipment, including managing factory incoming, in-process, and outgoing quality activities as well as ongoing reliability testing. Enable delivery of a mature product and manufacturing process into mass production in the new-product phase, including monitoring quality of the product is meeting the shipping standards and resolving issues in development phase. Utilize Design of experiments (DOE), Failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), and other industry-standard tools to proactively identify and address risks and optimize process parameter. Establish quality programs and process control plans for early detection of issues and to ensure the highest level of quality and reliability is consistently delivered. Manage the Product Quality Plan (POP), innovating as needed to ensure robust quality for new generation Apple Watches. Develop and implement new technologies to improve production quality, capacity, and efficiency, including utilizing inspection techniques to catch failure modes. Communicate technical updates on build status, failure analysis, and tracking readiness for shipping the product to the executive team. Execute the product quality plan and address issues found during testing. Manage the quality processes at the OEMs, including Incoming Quality Control (IQC), Outgoing Quality Control (OQC), and Ongoing Reliability Testing (ORT). Ensure equipment are ready, review headcounts and lab readiness for executing testing during builds to ensure contract manufacturers are prepared for preproduction builds. Evaluate prospective suppliers regarding quality management. Incorporate lessons learned from sustaining/ shipping products into design and process improvements for next-generation products. Work with commodity managers and supplier quality engineers to ensure component quality and reliability by making recommendations to improve design and test. International travel required 25%. 40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $196,200 - $295,000/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Manufacturing Engineering Systems, Mechanical Engineering or related field and 5 years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.

  • 5 years of experience with each of the following skills is required:

  • Applying Statistics and Production Control process to compare failure rates and evaluate effectiveness of a proposed mitigation

  • Performing data analysis to review commonality and trends, propose corrective actions, and identify rootcause of problems

  • Using working knowledge of production process to diagnose manufacturing issues,

  • Using knowledge of mechanical design to evaluate best practices for testing and product assembly

  • Performing failure analysis to locate reliability testing failures and incoming component material issues

  • Performing statistical data analysis to compare failure rates before and after mitigations, use of visualization tools such as jmp for plotting distributions and comparisons

  • Applying sampling plans to estimate correct sample size, recommend risk levels, and ensure issues seen by customers are caught at factory before shipping
