As a Trust and Safety Policy Lead at Apple, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of online safety by defining and implementing policy solutions across our services.

We are looking for a thoughtful, analytical, and collaborative Trust and Safety Policy Lead with a passion for online safety and user well-being to develop and implement policies that protect our users and maintain the integrity of Apple's services. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of trust and safety issues, exceptional communication skills, and a proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Description

As a Trust and Safety Policy Lead, you will be responsible for developing, adapting, and implementing policy solutions for a wide range of trust and safety challenges; specifically focused on key areas associated with various online safety regulations. A key aspect of this role involves developing and implementing internal guiding principles that inform our policy decisions and ensure alignment with our broader organizational values and objectives. This includes defining, documenting, and operationalizing these principles within our team. You will work closely with internal and external partners to identify policy issues, develop innovative solutions, and communicate our policies with clarity and precision.
Key responsibilities include:
Policy and principle development & implementation: Develop and adapt policy solutions grounded in research, data, and collaboration to address evolving challenges and support successful adoption and implementation.
Subject Matter Expertise: Build and maintain expertise specific to existing policies and enforcement, staying up-to-date on the latest trends and standard processes in trust and safety
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Establish strong relationships with internal and external partners to identify policy opportunities, collaborate on solutions, and advise across product and feature development.
Communication & Advocacy: Communicate our policies with clarity and precision to internal stakeholders, external partners, and the broader community, advocating for Trust and Safety across teams and helping build shared understanding of policy impacts.
Infrastructure Development: Contribute to building the policy team's infrastructure, lending your point of view and voice to decisions on how we prioritize and standardize our processes and work outputs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of proven experience in product or content policy, ideally with a consumer-facing or infrastructure product or service dealing with the trust and safety online space. This could also come from consulting, government, or NGOs in roles across Trust and Safety operations, project or program management, policy, legal, risk analysis, compliance, and/or content moderation solutions.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to distill complex information into a compelling narrative.

  • Experience with exposure to sensitive topics across an array of trust and safety areas of harm, including child safety, survivor safety, and content and conduct rules.

  • Strong project management skills, with an attention to detail and the ability to synthesize a number of points of view, work with challenging priorities, and lead different timescales.

  • Experience developing and maintaining policy documentation and templates to meet an array of governance

  • Trust & Safety Subject Matter Expertise: Ability to identify trust and safety risks in real-time in a product, project, or program review and propose risk mitigation methods and opportunities.

  • Experience engaging with external individuals/entities, such as non-government organizations or civil society groups, on behalf of a company or organization.

  • Adaptable and resilient, with a willingness to learn in evolving and high-impact environments, with the ability to establish and deliver within deadlines.

  • Process-minded with an excitement to join a new team and support the development of governance procedures and protocols in partnership with others.

  • Education & Experience

  • BA/BS and/or equivalent experience.

  • Applied work in electronic communications, online communities, collaboration and groupware, or social networking product development or evaluation.

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,300 and $263,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
