The Global Risk & Compliance Organization (GRC) is an independent risk management function, led by the Chief Risk Officer, with the objective of ensuring that American Express operates in a safe, sound, and fully compliant manner with all applicable regulatory expectations. GRC creates and maintains the overall risk management framework, performs independent risk management assessments, and monitors applicable risks. Global Compliance and Ethics (GCE) is responsible for establishing and maintaining a robust compliance program that ensures American Express is adhering to laws, regulations, and internal policies while fostering a culture of integrity and effective second line independent Compliance oversight.

The Manager of the Compliance Transformation Office will report into the VP of the Compliance Transformation Office, work with the SVP, Deputy Chief Compliance Officer, the Compliance & Ethics Leadership team and with multiple partners across numerous business units, functional areas, and geographies.

Key responsibilities:

  • Success and effectiveness of this role will be demonstrated by the candidate’s ability to bring together multiple workstreams into a consistent methodology and regularly communicate progress, and dependencies.

  • Work cohesively with leaders across GRC to ensure Compliance’s role in the broader GRC transformation efforts are represented

  • Outline communication strategy for the overall Compliance Transformation and engage relevant stakeholders to execute on the plan

  • Create project plans, presentation templates, newsletters, and progress report templates for colleagues to communicate consistently across Compliance on key Transformation efforts

  • Work directly with consulting partners as an administrative leader to ensure onboarding and offboarding procedures are adhered to, monitor training, and all American Express people leader efforts that applies to third party contractors

  • Review proposals and statements of work, and monitor progress against deliverables

  • Collaborate across cross-functional stakeholders, bringing them along and ensure comprehensive engagement in initiatives and projects

  • Create material for regulatory updates and presentations to Board, Executive Committee, BU Presidents and several senior stakeholders

  • Be a thought leader with a proactive mindset – align stakeholders, assess risks and escalate or devise mitigation strategies, think through interdependencies, etc.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational skillset and mindset, with demonstrated ability to manage teams to adhere to consistent processes

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to analyze data, identify trends, and evaluate risk scenarios effectively

  • Project management skills and experience by actively engaging with stakeholders to document milestones, dependencies, and updates in various templates and presentations

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to interact and obtain buy-in from senior leaders and business counterparts

  • Knowledge of regulatory changes and industry best practices, and providing oversight of processes to monitor, evaluate, and integrate regulatory changes into operational risk framework

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in compliance risk management and understands critical compliance risk management lifecycle activities

Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually bonus benefits
