About American Express Enterprise Observability
American Express has embarked on an exciting transformation driven by an energetic team of high performers. This group is nimble and creative with the power to shape our technology and product roadmap. You will join a team of rock star engineers that will deliver the next generation of Enterprise Observability products.
These products will support observability needs across the American Express enterprise. You will work across a wide range of tools and use an even wider range of technologies to deliver world class solutions. The innovations you create will support the gathering of observability data across American Express and enable teams to measure end to end application performance through the suite of application performance monitoring capabilities. You will be a core technical team member driving application monitoring solutions to best serve our customers within American Express. We will wear many hats; we will work fast and smart and adapt and iterate quickly. Some of the things you will be doing are:
Taking your place as a core member of an agile team driving application monitoring instrumentation best practices
Identifying opportunities for hygiene, governance & automation within the current Observability deployment
Opportunity to work on solutions that enable Cloud Native and Enterprise observability at scale
Minimum Qualifications:
Position requires a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field followed by 5 years of experience designing / administering modern observability stack and platforms.
Hands-on experience with design and implementation of observability frameworks.
Dynatrace Managed and/or SaaS experience including hands on expertise with designing, instrumenting, and administering application performance monitoring.
Hands-on experience with enterprise observability technologies from open source and/or leading vendors ie. Grafana, Open Telemetry, Splunk, Datadog, OpenSearch etc.
Hands-on experience with implementing standard methodologies for monitoring, logging, and alerting across widely distributed infrastructure stacks.
Hands-on experience with at least 1 programming language (Python, JavaScript, or Java) strongly preferred.
Experience with Infrastructure provisioning, configuration and decommission automation - ideally using IaC patterns.
Experience with Public Cloud (AWS, GCP or Azure).
Experience with collaboration tools (GitHub, JIRA, Confluence, etc.).
Experience with Dynatrace Query Language, automated build and test frameworks and container and container orchestration technologies a plus.
Aptitude for learning and applying new technologies and translate them into working software.
Strong analytical, problem-solving/quantitative skills.
Willing to take risks, experiment, and share fresh perspectives.
Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external teams.
Qualifications
Salary Range: $85,000.00 to $150,000.00 annually bonus benefits
