The Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) organization is responsible for managing relationships with millions of Merchants and Partners around the world that facilitate American Express acceptance and enabling the day-to-day operations of our company’s payment network.

The role of the Global Merchant & Network Pricing (GMNP) team is to design and implement global pricing strategies that support our coverage objectives and optimize our Discount Revenue. This revenue stream is the single largest source of American Express’ revenue and Merchant Pricing strategies play a key role in driving financial performance.

Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Manager - Global Pricing Strategy will:

  • Lead end-to-end strategic pricing initiatives, from problem definition through recommendation, executive alignment, and implementation support.

  • Structure and manage multiple concurrent project workstreams, while maintaining rigor in analysis, quality in deliverables, and adherence to timelines.

  • Develop analytical frameworks, methodologies, and financial models to evaluate complex Merchant pricing strategies and inform global decision-making.

  • Manage cross-functional stakeholder relationships to align on pricing objectives, identify solutions that support enterprise goals, and drive execution.

  • Perform comprehensive market research and synthesize internal performance data and external insights to identify strategic opportunities for GMNP and the broader enterprise.

  • Develop compelling, executive-ready presentations that translate complex analyses into structured narratives and actionable recommendations for senior-level audiences.

  • Lead discussions with GMNP senior leaders, presenting data-driven insights, challenging assumptions, and influencing key strategic decisions.

This role requires advanced analytical acumen, structured strategic thinking, and executive-level communication skills. The Senior Manager is expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, driving measurable impact through Merchant pricing strategy.

How will you make an impact in this role?

  • Architect analytical frameworks that enhance how GMNP evaluates pricing decisions globally.

  • Challenge existing pricing strategies and business assumptions with evidence-based, financially grounded proposals.

  • Translate complex analyses into clear strategic narratives and actionable recommendations for senior leadership.

  • Serve as a trusted thought partner to GMNP leaders, influencing high-impact decisions that shape Discount Revenue performance.

Required Qualifications:

  • 4 years of experience in Management Consulting or Corporate Strategy.

  • Demonstrated experience leading complex strategic initiatives and developing structured problem-solving approaches for ambiguous business challenges.

  • Advanced analytical and financial modeling skills (primarily Excel), with the ability to synthesize large, complex datasets into clear strategic insights.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, with extensive experience developing executive-level presentations that translate complex analyses into clear and compelling narratives.

  • Excellent executive presence and communication skills – written and oral – with experience influencing senior leaders, presenting complex strategies simply, and driving consensus.

  • Strong relationship management and collaboration skills, with the ability to manage internal stakeholders and external vendors.

  • Results-oriented with the ability to operate effectively under pressure, navigate ambiguity, balance multiple priorities, and drive alignment across functions.

  • Experience in and/or significant exposure to the payments industry is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

Salary Range: $103,750.00 to $174,750.00 annually bonus benefits
