How will you make an impact in this role?
The Global Risk & Compliance Organization (GRC) is an independent risk management function, led by the Chief Risk Officer, with the mission of ensuring that American Express operates in a safe, sound, and fully compliant manner with all regulatory expectations. GRC establishes and maintains the enterprise risk management framework, conducts independent risk assessments, and monitors key risks across the company.

The Compliance Risk Management Governance team develops, oversees, and strengthens the Compliance Risk Management framework to ensure governance structures, policies, and procedures are robust, effective, and aligned with regulatory requirements and best practices. The Audit & Regulatory Engagement team manages internal and external exams and audits, ensures timely resolution of findings, educates stakeholders with an examiner mindset, and continuously enhances the efficiency of compliance risk management processes.
We are seeking a Project Coordinator to serve as the Guardrail point person, responsible for driving program coordination, tracking progress, and ensuring strategic alignment across compliance initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement a program management framework to coordinate workstreams, track activities, and monitor milestones.
Build and maintain a 3-year compliance roadmap, prioritizing year-one deliverables with urgency and precision.
Partner closely with stakeholders across business units, products, and processes to ensure alignment.
Monitor and report on progress, risks, and KPIs through executive-ready dashboards and presentations.
Facilitate clear communication between project teams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
Proactively flag and escalate scope changes, resource needs, and financial impacts to senior leadership.
Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for project success.
Contribute to a positive, collaborative culture with a solutions-oriented mindset.
Qualifications
Strong project management skills with proven ability to track, prioritize, and execute across complex initiatives.
Skilled at balancing attention to detail with big-picture thinking.
Excellent relationship-building and influencing skills, with a history of collaborating effectively across functions and senior leadership.
Exceptional communication skills, including experience creating executive-level presentations and synthesizing complex information clearly.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a matrixed environment.
Experience leading cross-functional teams and navigating ambiguity with resilience.
Strong problem-solving mindset with enthusiasm for tackling challenges.
3 years of project management experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or related field required.
Qualifications
Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually bonus benefits
