How will you make an impact in this role?

The Risk Products & Data Strategy (RPDS) team at American Express is responsible for building software products, platforms & shared services required to manage credit and fraud risk strategies globally. The group handles customer journeys for Onboarding, Limit Management, Authorizations and Hardship/Collections for various products in portfolio such as Credit Cards, Loans and Digital Banking. The group operates in Scale Agile methodology (Safe) and partners closely with Risk strategy, Technology, Servicing and Marketing groups at American Express. RPDS is placed within Credit and Fraud Risk (CFR) organization at American Express, which is large group of 1,450 professionals, located in 20 offices around the world.

Job Responsibilities:

As the Director of Solution Management, this role will be responsible for creating global business architecture, blueprints & solution for E2E customer journeys in Credit Card, Loan and Banking products across customer lifecycle. This role is most critical in creating & maintaining a blueprint of solutions, connecting dots across various products & solutions in risk ecosystem, work with Product & Technology leads across CFR, Risk Technologies & Enterprise Architecture to adhere solutions to enterprise blueprint & policies and convert the “WHAT” from a product vision into a well-defined “HOW” through solution architecture.

This role requires strong organizational, technical, creative problem-solving and stakeholder management skills and can influence across multiple levels of leadership. This is an exciting and critical role that will help drive the future state architecture for enabling best in class authorizations decisions at American Express. You’ll work among high performing design, product, and engineering teams. We are looking for someone who is deeply inquisitive, enjoys creative problem solving, detail oriented, has an enterprise mindset to drive greater reusability, and enable journeys with faster time to market.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive a balanced architecture & platform strategy to support risk management use cases for existing and new products.

  • Establish sound frameworks, taxonomy, and methods to improve the product delivery of risk products on risk & enterprise platforms.

  • Identify opportunities to drive a culture of design thinking, continuous innovation, and discovery within the product delivery lifecycle.

  • Use market, technical, and competitive intelligence to build partnerships with other technical organizations based on company strategy and drive opportunities through our partnerships.

  • Become a trusted advisor to your team, customers, product counterparts, and product management leadership.

  • Maximize team productivity and career development by understanding your team’s skill levels, working styles, motivations, and professional goals.

  • Establish a strong collaborative culture with peers and other product & technology organizations in AXP.

  • Promote a culture of diversity, work ethic, positive attitude, team collaboration, success, pride, performance, discipline, and creativity.

  • Provide executive updates to senior leadership on architecture while ensuring timely and effective communication with all relevant stakeholders.

  • Maintain the inventory and knowledge base on business processes, business capabilities and technical components along with other architectural artefacts e.g., data architecture, application architecture.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in supporting product development including architecture or design for the product.

  • A minimum of 1-2 years of people leadership experience

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage, influence and inspire partners to drive collaboration and alignment.

  • The ability to set a high bar for the team and empower them to achieve great results.

  • A “driver” personality - constantly pushing toward clarity and delivery while balancing the need for great collaboration.

  • Enthusiasm and passion for great platforms, products and services and an ability to articulate platform functionality and solution rationale clearly based on audience group.

  • Risk Management Experience is a plus.

  • A good balance of technical knowledge and business acumen with a proven track record of driving innovation and business metrics with a customer-first mindset

  • High degree of organization, individual initiative, and personal accountability

  • An ability to solve complex problems and a highly analytical approach.

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or comparable experience) in computer science, engineering or a related technical discipline required.

Qualifications

Salary Range: $144,250.00 to $256,250.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
