ABOUT THE ROLE:

At Resy, we are tackling hard problems with elegant solutions and scaling very quickly. As an Engineering Director, you will play a crucial role in taking our product to the next level. We are seeking ambitious leaders who are eager to build out exciting features for our restaurant partners and Resy diners. The ideal candidates can work quickly and produce well architected solutions collabratively. You thrive in a dynamic and constantly evolving environment, you are a collaborator and an innovator, you can inspire teams of people to deeply engage and you are excited about what technology is doing for the hospitality industry.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering

  • 8 years of experience working as a Software Engineer, preferably in a fast-paced startup environment

  • 5 years of direct management experience leading engineering teams

  • You are a self-starter but very comfortable working closely with a team

  • You are comfortable working with stakeholders outside the Engineering team including our Compliance, Information Security, Product, Sales and Account Management teams

You have strong expertise with the following:

  • Python / Java / Web frameworks

  • SQL / MySQL / Postgres

  • RDBMS and database design

  • Implementing and building APIs used at scale by Web and Mobile clients

  • Monitoring system performance

  • Leading and growing teams of fellow engineers through complex deliveries

  • A history of taking projects through the entire software development lifecycle from inception to delivery as a technical leader

  • A passion for documenting how systems work

BIG PLUS IF YOU HAVE:

  • Preferably a BS or MS degree in computer science, computer engineering, or other technical discipline

  • 10 years of software development experience especially in a leadership capacity

  • History of leading teams maintaining systems at large scale

  • Ability to effectively interpret technical and business objectives and challenges and articulate solutions

  • Willingness to learn new technologies and use them to their optimal potential

Every member of our team must be able to demonstrate the following technical, functional, leadership and business core competencies, including:

  • Agile Practices

  • Programming Languages and Frameworks

  • Business Analysis

  • Analytical Thinking

  • Business Product Knowledge

  • SQL Performance tuning

  • Microservice architectures

  • AWS - EC2 / RDS / S3 / SQS

  • Kafka / Celery / Flask / Django / Supervisord / MongoDB

  • Dev-ops experience

  • Jira or other project management tool

  • Payment systems experience

  • Websockets experience

  • You enjoy at least one of the following things: shishito peppers, uni, or creme anglaise

Qualifications

Salary Range: $170,000.00 to $255,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
