Are you passionate about applying your deep understanding of Java, Internet-scale distributed systems, and database technologies in creative ways?! We at Apple Invites and iCloud Calendar team are searching for an excellent Senior Software Engineer.
Our team is responsible for building cutting-edge infrastructure that supports our production Calendar and Apple Invites service. You’ll work on backend services, APIs, and distributed systems, partnering with teams across Apple to bring world-class calendaring capabilities to life.
Description
As a senior engineer on the iCloud Calendar team, you will play a key role in designing and evolving the infrastructure that powers one of the most widely used calendar services in the world. You will:
Design, implement, and deploy backend services that are scalable, reliable, and secure
Own and maintain critical components of the iCloud Calendar backend stack
Investigate and resolve complex production issues, improving observability and performance
Work closely with client engineers to support new feature development and integration
Write clear design documents and contribute to technical planning and reviews
Develop comprehensive unit, and integration tests to ensure code quality
Help drive engineering best practices and continuous improvements across the team
Minimum Qualifications
10+ years of professional software development experience, with significant focus on backend and distributed systems
Strong hands-on experience with Java, including memory management and performance tuning
Proficient in debugging complex issues using core dumps, logs, and profiling tools
Solid knowledge of both SQL and NoSQL databases
Experience designing, developing, and operating public-facing APIs and services
Skilled in writing efficient, maintainable, and testable code
Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, including experience working with client and infrastructure teams
Comfortable wearing multiple hats and adapting quickly in a dynamic environment
Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to team-wide architectural decisions
Preferred Qualifications

Highly professional and self-motivated, with the ability to prioritize and deliver in a fast-paced environment
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 and $312,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
