DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Production Technician to join our team specializing in Manufacturing for our Cummins Inc. facility in Maxton, NC.

Job Summary:

Operates machines and production equipment independently in accordance with quality and productivity requirements safely in a manufacturing environment and may instruct or coach others.

During any regular shift, individuals may be required to physically: stand (5-6 hours); use both hands to grasp tools and parts, and push and pull (3-4 hours); use of head and neck in a static or turning motion (3-4 hours); and looking forward, side to side, and down (7-8 hours). Manual assembly also involves some amount of bending, reaching, lifting, and turning. Some departments within the business may require occasional or intermittent lifting of up to 35-40 lbs. without hoist assistance and greater than 45 lbs. with hoist assistance.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

• High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.

• This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

• Two (2) years of experience in mechanical assembly, fabrication, or electrical/electronic field highly preferred

Experience:

• Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

This job is a Tech 3 job and will be a builder for the AWD T-Case line and the Next Gen T-Case line.

• Must understand and be able to use basic math, fractions, basic algebra, decimals, and metrics.

• Must be able to read and understand work instructions.

• Must be flexible and be able to work in a team environment.

• Must be able to use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers.

• Operate machinery according to set procedures – meeting productivity goals in a safe, quality, and environmentally sound, cost-effective manner.

• Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, dial indicators, and micrometers to determine adherence of product characteristics to prescribed specifications.

• Initiate action, up to and including stopping the line, to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to product, process, and quality systems.

• Safely operate a fork truck, if assigned, and possess a valid company forklift license.

• Control further processing, delivery, or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected as defined by applicable procedures and/or delegation of the area manufacturing manager or designee.

• Perform preventative maintenance to all equipment and, in some cases, notify the proper maintenance personnel of necessary repairs.

• Comply with all Meritor written environmental (ISO 14001) and quality (TS16949) policies.

• Maintain best practice safety and housekeeping standards with continuous emphasis on 5S.

• Support development of the team to track key performance data, identify variances, and determine root causes, implement corrective action, and documentation to meet or exceed goals.

• Flexible to work any shift and overtime to meet the customer requirements and other work assignments as required.

• All other job tasks as required by leadership.
