How will you make an impact in this role?
The Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) organization is responsible for managing relationships with millions of Merchants and Partners around the world that facilitate American Express acceptance and enabling the day-to-day operations of our company’s payment network.
The role of the Global Merchant & Network Pricing (GMNP) team is to design and implement global pricing strategies that support our coverage objectives and optimize our Discount Revenue. This revenue stream is the single largest source of American Express’ revenue and Merchant Pricing strategies play a key role in driving financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
The Vice President, Third-Party Processor and B2B Pricing is responsible for:
Owning the pricing strategy and financial analysis for American Express’s Third-Party Acquiring Program, OptBlue. This position will also drive overall pricing strategy for Global Aggregators and support negotiations for strategic partnerships
Design and implement pricing strategies based on business and financial objectives, market and competitive analyses, and pricing capabilities
Lead cross-functional relationships across Client Management, Finance, Legal, and Operations to drive alignment on deals and strategic pricing initiatives
Present regularly to senior management and cross-functional partners, driving key initiatives and the financial impact of pricing decisions
Managing the pricing strategy and financial analyses for new emerging B2B payment forms and driving innovative merchant acquisition pricing strategies
Design and implement industry-wide pricing strategies based on business and financial objectives, market and competitive analyses, and pricing capabilities
Drive pricing strategy across all deal sizes, ensuring alignment with company goals, key performance indicators, and ever-changing market dynamics
Present regularly to senior management and cross-functional partners, detailing key initiatives and the financial impact of pricing decisions
Liaise directly with merchants to explain Amex pricing philosophy, premium to competitor bank card rates, industry pricing, and pricing proposals - lead discussions and negotiations as appropriate
Lead cross-functional relationships across Merchant Acquisition, Client Management, Finance, Legal, and Operations to drive alignment on deals and strategic pricing initiatives
Required Qualifications:
10 Years’ experience in pricing or business-related discipline
Able to engage, motivate and develop a team of high-performing, high-energy colleagues
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
Strong strategic decision-making and influencing skills with ability to assess key decision levers, make recommendations and balance shareholder and customer objectives
Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to translate complex technical terms into key insights with linkages to business strategies and objectives
Superior written and oral communication and presentation skills
Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet critical deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Knowledge of proprietary acquiring systems
- MBA or other professional qualification preferred
Qualifications
Salary Range: $185,000.00 to $260,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
