How will you make an impact in this role?

American Express Aviation is a world-wide, Part 91 corporate flight department supporting executive movement through business jet and helicopter transport.

The Aviation Technician is responsible for the safe, efficient, and professional maintenance of all American Express aircraft. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate leadership behaviors and abilities to coordinate with all members of the maintenance department and or outside vendors to complete all maintenance in accordance with all applicable local, federal, and international regulations, as well as company policies and standard operating procedures.

The primary role of the Aviation Technician is to maintain the company aircraft in an airworthy condition in accordance with the manufacture’s recommended maintenance program and all applicable FARs. The Aviation Technician will collaborate with all Aviation department colleagues and leadership to maintain company aircraft in a flight ready status and execute department and company goals.

This position will be based in Newburgh, New York at Stewart International Airport, but must be willing to travel to other airports to support the flight operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform aircraft servicing and inspections to include all airframe accessories (i.e., APU, Engines, etc.)

  • Demonstrate proficiency in maintaining and repairing interior components.

  • Perform limited structural repairs.

  • Be willing and able to travel as flight tech or in support of aircraft.

  • Supervise fueling operations.

  • Works a flexible schedule to support all aircraft operations.

  • Shows a working knowledge to use aircraft IPC to research and order parts.

  • Test, troubleshoot, and repair all aircraft systems.

  • Demonstrate organizational skills, proficiency, and independence to create work scopes and manage/supervise maintenance events to include onsite.

  • Show an ability to use technology and computer skills to include business applications and computerized maintenance programs.

  • Work with supply vendors to order aircraft parts and services for unscheduled maintenance.

  • Ensure maintenance being performed is done in accordance with approved data.

  • Show a basic understanding of the maintenance tracking system and be able to make everyday maintenance entries.

  • Be able to work independently on both Pre-flight and post-flight inspections.

  • Be a qualified tug driver.

  • Show a basic understanding and ability to approve aircraft for return to service.

  • Perform hangar maintenance as needed to include ground support equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5 years aircraft maintenance experience.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • FAA-issued Airframe and Powerplant Certificate. (I.A. rating Desirable)

  • Exhibits enthusiasm, passion, and curiosity for Aviation.

  • Demonstrates Leadership attributes.

  • Inclusive mindset and behaviors.

  • Demonstrates a willingness to learn new skills and adapt to a dynamic work environment.

  • Functional computer application skills.

  • Well-developed interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills, both written and oral.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Holds a valid passport or is capable of obtaining one.

  • Holds a valid driver’s license.

  • Up-to-date immunization/vaccine record. (subject to review by Amex Medical)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior work experience in corporate/business aviation.

  • Prior work experience on Gulfstream aircraft.

  • Associates Degree is highly preferred.

Salary Range: $52.90 to $91.35 hourly bonus benefits
