Role Number: 200632821-3956

Summary

The Health Technologies team conceives and proves out exciting new technology for Apple’s future products and features. In this role you can be involved in the end-to-end new product development cycle, from proof of concept HW development to factory production — ultimately working to invent, produce, and improve HW technologies that seek to improve human quality of life.

Description

In this role, you’ll be part of a prototyping and development team collaborating with other teams and experts to create innovative health products and features.

As a sensors electrical engineer, your responsibilities will include: defining sensor architectures and specifications to meet feature requirements; designing and building prototype circuits and corresponding test and characterization setups; supporting user studies and data collection; and analyzing lab, study, and factory data. The role also requires heavy collaboration across several disciplines, which is critical to the success of health features.

Minimum Qualifications

  • ?An ability to design sensor circuits. This including ability to analyze analog signals and noise for frontend circuits such as amplifiers, filters, and A/D converters. It also includes ability to use schematic capture and PCB layout techniques, encompassing noise optimization, component selection, thermal control, etc.

  • Ability to work on embedded systems. This includes working with designs using microcontrollers, and common communication protocols such as I2C and SPI. It also includes experience developing firmware (C or C++) to enable sensor data collection or streaming.

  • An understanding of statistics and an ability to analyze engineering data. This includes topics on statistical distributions, repeatability, reproducibility, confidence intervals, etc.

  • Ability to bring up, test and characterize sensor systems. This includes debugging firmware, circuit boards (analog and digital signals), and developing scripts. Scripts enable interfacing with prototype hardware and the automation of lab setups (e.g. Python or Matlab).

  • Should thrive in fast-paced environment, be highly organized, and be able to multitask. Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to work as a key member of a team. Strong analytical, and problem-solving skills. Detail oriented.

  • 5 years of experience in electrical engineering. This can include time spent on graduate degrees.

Preferred Qualifications

  • An understanding of sensor physics from the perspective of a main sensing mechanism and as a source of error. This includes common effects such as thermal, strain, optical, etc…

  • An understanding of power integrity and power-distribution networks to enable very low noise design of sensor systems.

  • Able and willing to travel in the future to product manufacturing facilities both domestic and international to provide technical support as needed.

  • Previous experience working on health related projects is a plus
