DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Packaging Technician – Level III to join our team specializing in Logistics for our Cummins Inc. facility in Maxton, NC

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  1. Drive Operational Efficiency By supporting daily packaging operations and implementing process improvements, you'll help streamline workflows, reduce downtime, and enhance overall productivity.

  2. Champion Cost and Sustainability Initiatives Your efforts to identify and implement cost-saving and eco-friendly packaging solutions will directly contribute to the company’s financial and environmental goals.

  3. Collaborate Cross-Functionally Working with departments like HSE, Quality, Purchasing, and Manufacturing, you'll ensure packaging solutions align with broader organizational objectives and compliance standards.

  4. Innovate with Suppliers By partnering with packaging suppliers to design and qualify new solutions, you'll bring innovation to the site and ensure materials meet performance and safety standards.

  5. Respond to Critical Issues Your quick response to urgent packaging problems affecting safety, quality, or production will minimize disruptions and protect both people and products.

  6. Mentor and Support Team Members Informally guiding less experienced technicians will help build team capability and foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

  7. Optimize Returnable Packaging Systems Managing inventory and performing fleet size analysis ensures efficient use of returnable containers, reducing waste and improving logistics.

  8. Lead Continuous Improvement Projects By assessing and prioritizing packaging projects, updating PFEP data, and using CQMS tools, you'll drive long-term improvements in quality, safety, and material flow.

Education:

High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations

A two year University degree from an accredited program in Business, Engineering or a relevant field of study preferred

Proficiency in Microsoft applications, generating reports and advanced level computer skills

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience in a related field
