The Consumer Banking Services Organization was created to meet ongoing American Express Members’ financial services needs beyond the card and build upon a broader Membership promise. This team is driving AXP’s innovation for banking services, identifying Member needs and innovating around new digital banking products. This exciting opportunity is core to driving the future success of American Express.

The Compliance Manager- Banking Product Issue Management will ensure our Consumer Deposit Products (Checking, Savings, and Time Deposits) are operating in accordance with our customer promises while meeting all regulatory obligations. The successful candidate will assist in the identification, resolution and management of issues which impact the Consumer Deposit Products. This colleague will lead efforts and strategies to define effective resolutions of escalated compliance issues and events that impact our products and/or customers, assist in the development of uniform processes to manage, document, and resolve issues, and ensure we protect the integrity of our products and the interests of our customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Control Management, Compliance and business partners to identify potential issues, influence decisions about issue management, and manage Issues and Events through closure

  • Drive engagement from all stakeholders and develop an environment of ownership and responsibility for issues across the Consumer Deposits team

  • Ensure on-time closure of all Issue and Event milestones and deliverables owned by the Consumer Banking team, which are identified by 2nd and 3rd line teams as well as any identified during regulatory exams of our processes and products.

  • Develop strategies to manage issues and events efficiently

  • Manage effective issue reporting fit for various purposes and stakeholders

  • Establish strong relationships with back-office servicing, technologies, privacy, tax legal and product partners

  • Facilitate the creation of effective controls to mitigate risk and avoid issue recurrences

  • Manage and organize the efforts of analyst(s) in carrying out key tasks for issue and event milestone closures, issue and event reporting, maintaining documentation library, submitting milestones for closure and supporting QA reviews.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

  • 5 years of experience in product management, controls management, compliance, operations, or issue management roles or a clear demonstration of transferable skills

  • 3 years of experience in Banking and Deposit Products specifically, with focus on issue management or regulatory compliance

  • Analytical abilities and strategic perspective to identify trends and recommend solutions

  • Excellent project management and prioritization skills, with a focus on results

  • Detail-oriented and able to produce clear documentation and reports for various audiences

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks with various milestone delivery dates

  • Strong data analytical analysis skillsets

  • Relationship builder with strong collaboration, influence and negotiation skills; someone who excels at bringing multiple cross-functional teams together toward common goals

  • Positive “roll-up your sleeves” attitude and ability to work with a ‘start-up’ mentality in a fast-paced environment

  • Maturity and flexibility to adapt as new organization grows and evolves

Qualifications

Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually bonus benefits
