Job Description

Lead a team of scientists in the development and implementation of in vitro assays to support the progression of peptide therapeutics, including biophysical, biochemical and cellular assays. Direct research and/or project activities and professional development of a group of scientists within the individual’s area of expertise by effectively mentoring, guiding and/or supervising scientific personnel. Independently conceive, execute and communicate novel multi-disciplinary research or development strategies that achieve project and area goals. Serve as a lead scientist on his/her own project and contribute scientific insights into multiple other projects.

Responsibilities

•Lead a team of scientists in the design, development, and validation in vitro assays required to support ongoing peptide therapeutics programs.

•Plan, implement, and oversee effective in vitro screening funnels required to advance therapeutic discovery projects.

•Lead bioassay scientist in the scale up and automation of biochemical and cellular assays.

•Effectively function as a principal investigator, generating original technical ideas and research or development strategies.

•Demonstrate creative 'out of the box' thinking to solve difficult problems and champion new technologies to achieve project goals.

•Independently responsible for project science within his/her area of expertise on one or more project teams.

•Primary author of publications, presentations, regulatory documents and/or primary inventor of patents.

•Mentor/supervise a team of one or more cross-functional scientists and evaluate the performance of those individuals; is accountable for the effective performance of the team/individuals.

Qualifications

Qualifications

•BS or equivalent education and extensive, typically 14+ years of experience; MS or equivalent education with typically 12+ years of experience; PhD with typically 6+ years of experience in biochemistry, biology, chemistry or related field.

•Experience with the implementation and optimization of biophysical, biochemical, and/or cellular assays:

•Experience with current binding and potency assay approaches, such as ELISA, TR-FRET, and/or other assay platforms

•Experience with current cell-based assay methodologies, such as cytotoxicity assays, reporter gene assays, proliferation assays, effector function assays, etc.

•High-throughput assay development and/or experience with automation platforms is ideal.

•Proven track record of collaboration with a cross-functional team of scientists to advance therapeutic programs.

•Experience developing new strategies, approaches, and/or initiatives to improve procedures and practices.

•The ideal candidate will be hard-working, self-motivated, detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to adapt quickly to changes.

•Must have strong communication skills, including verbal, written, and scientific data presentation, including the ability to independently author technical reports and presentations

•Must be forward-thinking and able to contribute to scientific/technical discussions

•This position is an on-site role in a lab-based function. To be successful, candidates must enjoy and thrive in an on-site, highly collaborative lab environment with daily face-to-face cross-functional interactions between scientists.

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
