We're seeking an adventurous and strategic leader to drive innovation in Ads Auction and Marketplace Optimization. This role requires a deep understanding of Ad network behavior and the ability to develop and prioritize an innovation roadmap that spans multiple technical domains. You'll lead a team that designs, develops, and delivers innovative capabilities, differentiating Apple’s Ad Platforms and driving key business outcomes.
Description
As an Engineering Manager, you'll be responsible for building products and solutions for auction and marketplace optimization to deliver value to advertisers, users, and Apple Ads. In addition, you will have the opportunity to play a critical role in influencing the roadmap and technical strategy in allied areas like campaign optimization, advertiser recommendations, response prediction etc all of which are critical for delivering enhanced experience for the advertisers and users on our platform.
Responsibilities
Define and implement the technical strategy for building solutions for auction and marketplace optimization that can deliver value to advertisers, users, and Apple Ads.
Play a critical role in shaping the strategy and roadmap for allied areas like campaign optimization, advertiser recommendations, response prediction etc to deliver an optimal end to end experience for advertisers and users
Leverage innovative research and technology to deliver these capabilities at scale
Design and analyze sophisticated algorithms to deliver incremental improvements that are privacy compliant
Execute and analyze large-scale experiments to drive continuous improvements in ad effectiveness.
Work closely with engineering and business teams to scale innovations, improving user experience and monetization potential across Apple’s advertising platform.
Operate at utmost scale, ensuring efficient and reliable model deployment and execution.
Develop and implement ad algorithms, optimization solutions, and marketplace data analyses within an ad network.
Architect and scale intelligence systems, addressing operational concerns and performance optimizations.
Minimum Qualifications
5+ years of experience leading teams that apply auction theory, quantitative optimization, advanced statistical/ML methods to large, sophisticated datasets.
Track record of leading engineering teams from design to implementation, ensuring scalability and reliability.
Deep mathematical understanding of auction theory, game theory, economics, quantitative optimization, modern ML techniques, and statistics.
Experience working with operational teams on deployment, monitoring, and system management.
Strong analytical skills, ability to investigate multiple streams of ad quality data, draw insights, and recommend actionable solutions.
Experience in one or more of the following domains: auction theory and auction design, game theory, machine learning, statistics, quantitative analysis, algorithms, and distributed systems.
Hands-on experience with Python or Java in a production environment.
Proficiency in databases, SQL, and scripting languages for data processing and model deployment.
BS, or equivalent experience, in Economics, AI, ML, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications
10+ years of experience applying auction theory, game theory, economics, quantitative optimization, advanced statistical/ML methods to large, sophisticated datasets.
MS/PhD, or equivalent experience in Economics, Game Theory, AI, ML, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
Previous experience with online advertising domain highly preferred
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $198,300 and $342,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
