Description

APPLE INC has the following available in San Diego. Analyze and ?x challenging performance problems in software for various user facing workloads in order to provide the best in class experience on Apple products. Engage with other engineering teams from ?rmware, kernel, applications and hardware teams to gain a deep understanding of problem domains through technical discussions and strong collaboration. Propose architectural changes, optimizations and o?er solutions to end to end responsiveness issues. Develop tools to pro?le and analyze performance issues across the software stack for user facing scenarios. Develop telemetry and analytics to understand performance trends from the ?eld across products and software releases. Evaluate and optimize performance of new products and features in software for a great user experience. 40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $135,400 - $204,000/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.

• Education and/or experience with the following skills is required:

• Using C, C++, Assembly to debug and ?x speci?c performance issues in the software stack

• Demonstrating hardware and software interactions, Operating Systems and Kernel and Firmware Abstraction experience to root cause challenging systemic issues manifesting as performance problems

• Using Compilers and linkers to optimize loading of libraries and frameworks

• Building real-Time kernel for doing scheduler and Virtual Memory optimizations using C

• Writing device drivers to debug low level performance issues involving hardware and software

• Debugging frame rate and video transcoding throughput issues

• Developing tools in Python to interact with machine readable formats or APIs
