American Express Global Commercial Services (GCS) is a leader in Corporate Payments Solutions and a fast-growing part of our business. Within GCS, Small Businesses are one of our most important growth drivers. The Small Business team strengthens our core card products while expanding innovative solutions that help customers better manage their cash flow. Since small businesses often need working capital to run their operations, Amex supports them with a range of Lending products, including Charge Cards with Pay Over Time feature, Proprietary and Co-branded Credit Cards, and a Business Line of Credit.
The VP of Small Business Pricing will lead the vision and execution of pricing strategies across all Small Business Cards and the Business Line of Credit. This leader will design and manage how pricing is used as a comprehensive tool to achieve sustainable portfolio growth. That means balancing customer experience, demand and engagement with strong portfolio economics and healthy margins. The team is responsible for defining and managing almost all elements of pricing, which encompasses any rate or fee applied across Small Business Cards and Business Line of Credit products (e.g., APRs, fees, interest methodologies, minimum due). In this capacity, the team partners closely with stakeholders across the organization—including Product, Credit Risk, and Marketing—to ensure that pricing strategies are competitive, customer-centric, and aligned with the company’s growth and profitability objectives.
The team is tasked with driving revenue through transformation initiatives, uncovering opportunities to reinvest in customer and product value, and developing a pricing capabilities roadmap to enhance customer experience, streamline operations, and ensure regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver pricing strategies and capabilities to support new lending products and a pipeline of future enhancements to enable revenue growth.
Develop a capability roadmap that enables new pricing strategies and automates standard pricing changes to reduce time to market, improve quality, and lower costs.
Partner with Credit Risk teams to apply pricing as a key lever for managing risk and ensuring healthy portfolio margins.
Establish, monitor, and strengthen robust risk and process controls to ensure a well-managed, compliant, and resilient lending business.
Create and assess the feasibility of a pipeline of new pricing and lending ideas by working with various Product teams, Technology, Finance, Servicing, Compliance and GCO.
Partner with Finance to forecast the P&L impacts of pricing decisions as well as to deliver new pricing frameworks that drive profit enhancing outcomes.
Monitor the competitive and regulatory environment, generate insights, and assess their impact on pricing strategy across customer segments.
Minimum Qualifications
Tenured people leader with a growth mindset and a passion for coaching and team development
Strong commercial acumen and strategic decision-making skills, with the ability to identify critical insights, focus on what matters most, influence outcomes, and balance shareholder objectives with customer value.
Ability to build and sustain effective relationships with business partners, peers, and key stakeholders to drive alignment and results.
Excellent financial analysis and problem-solving skills with ability to translate complex financial terms into key insights and apply to business strategies and objectives.
Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style effectively to audiences of all levels.
Knowledge of commercial payments industry & economics
