How will you make an impact in this role?
The American Express Global Financial Crimes Compliance (GFCC) function provides second-line policy, framework, oversight and control solutions to meet the Company’s legal, regulatory and risk management mandates in connection with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter Terrorism Financing (CTF), Sanctions, and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC). The GFCC portfolio comprises all aspects of the Company’s first and second-line financial crime risk management (FCRM) activities, including all lines of businesses in the United States and both proprietary and non-proprietary global markets.
Reporting to the Director, GFCC Training, the Training Designer will lead the design, development, and implementation of strategic learning solutions that support regulatory compliance and risk mitigation across the enterprise. This role partners closely with Financial Crimes subject matter experts to translate regulatory requirements and GFCC Policy requirements into scalable training. The position requires strong expertise in training design, program management, stakeholder engagement, and learning strategy. The ideal candidate combines deep design expertise with the ability to lead large-scale training initiatives and influence cross-functional stakeholders in a highly regulated environment.
Learning Strategy & Program Leadership
Lead the design and execution of enterprise Financial Crimes training, including AML, Sanctions, and Anti-Bribery and Corruption regulatory compliance topics.
Develop learning strategies that support evolving risk management priorities.
Identify opportunities to enhance learning effectiveness through modern learning approaches and innovative instructional techniques.
Provide guidance on learning architecture, curriculum development, and program governance.
Training Design & Content Development
Design and develop high-impact learning experiences, including:
eLearning modules
scenario-based learning simulations
virtual instructor-led training
assessments and certification programs.
Apply learning principles and instructional design methodologies such as ADDIE.
Ensure training content is clear, accurate, and aligned with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
Stakeholder Engagement & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with GFCC SMEs and leaders to define learning requirements.
Translate regulatory requirements into accessible, engaging learning experiences for diverse audiences.
Influence stakeholders and provide consultative guidance on learning solutions and training strategies.
Program Management & Governance
Support the end-to-end lifecycle of training initiatives, from needs analysis through deployment and evaluation.
Coordinate with Global Regulatory Learning (GRL) and the Colleague Experience Group (CEG) to ensure successful training deployment through the Learning Management System (LMS).
Maintain documentation and governance processes supporting regulatory exams, audits and compliance reviews.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Training Design, Education, Organizational Development, Communications, or related field.
5 years of experience in training design, learning strategy, or corporate training.
Demonstrated experience designing complex learning programs in regulated environments.
Experience developing digital learning using tools such as Articulate Storyline or similar authoring platforms.
Strong ability to translate complex content into engaging, learner-centered experiences.
Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and project leadership skills.
Qualifications
Salary Range: $89,250.00 to $150,250.00 annually bonus benefits
