JobSummary: The Payroll Analyst provides support of all aspects of payroll operations. They will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, maintaining payroll records, ensuring compliance with labor laws and supporting payroll reporting and auditing activities. Additionally, they answer employee inquiries and report to management on payroll matters. This role requires strong analytical skills, payroll system knowledge and an understanding of relevant tax regulations and labor laws.
This role is a hybrid position working out of our Westbury, NY office.
An employee in this position can expect an annual starting rate between $65,000 - $80,000 depending on experience, seniority, geographic locations, and other factors permitted by law.
WhatYouDo:
• Process and analyze payroll data for accuracy completeness and compliance with company policies and legal regulations.
• Ensure timely and accurate payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, bonuses, taxes, and deductions.
• Reconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies in payroll records.
• Deduction Management: Process deductions for benefits, garnishments, and other items.
• Account Reconciliation: Reconcile payroll accounts to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
• Reporting and Analysis: Prepare reports on payroll activity, analyze payroll data, and identify areas for improvement.
• Employee Inquiries: Answer employee questions about paychecks and payroll-related matters.
• Compliance: Stay updated on changes in payroll laws and regulations and ensure adherence.
• System Management: Maintain and update payroll systems and data.
• Audits: Prepare for and participate in payroll audits.
• Communications: Act as liaison to field and interdepartmental personnel. Assist the HR Service center on handling unique paycheck situations.
• Administration: Perform administrative functions for the department as needed.
• Year End Processing: Ensure accuracy of W2s and process any necessary W2 corrections.
• Participate in system upgrades or changes related to payroll and recommend process improvements.
• Provide analytical support for compensation planning, benchmarking, and salary structure updates.
Knowledge&Experience:
• College degree preferred plus a minimum of 3 – 5 years of experience within the payroll function, or the equivalent years of experience is required.
• Thorough knowledge of multi-state payroll law and ability to resolve issues at the employee level.
• Ability to analyze and critically review payroll issues and processes.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and organizational skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Expertise in Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Excel.
• Experience with PeopleSoft a plus.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
