Description
You’ll be responsible for a cross functional team that is improving how Apple teams forecast their use of internal Apple platforms and infrastructure. Your goal will be to make it easier for Apple engineering teams to have access to infrastructure capacity they need for their businesses, easily available on time, while meeting Apple goals around efficiency and utilization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead Capacity Engineering, building capabilities that allow Apple Business units to accurately forecast platform capacity needs
Build tools that allow customer to accurately assess their future capacity needs
Build reporting solutions for platform customers that allow them to understand their usage patterns, and understand efficiency opportunities.
Build and evolve capabilities for platform capacity forecasting, building capabilities that allow platform customers to accurately plan future supply needed for customer capacity, other platform needs, and accurately forecast platform bill of material requirements for their platforms.
Build tools in collaboration with platform teams that make it easier for customer teams to make use of planned capacity, and support strategies to make use of platform capacity in more on demand approaches.
Lead Capacity Data Engineering, building capabilities to ingest, process and report on customer platform and infrastructure metrics, producing data feeds used across Apple for understanding infrastructure usage, and platform and customer utilization.
Build and enhance data pipelines for ingesting 3PC usage and utilization metrics, supporting teams that need to do further analysis on detailed data sets.
Build and enhance data reporting solutions that support Apple finance needs for supporting cost allocation, charge backs, and cost modeling.
Lead the forecasting processes for customer and platform needs to ensure meeting Apple Cloud’s capacity needs; ensuring customer flexibility and smooth platform provisioning.
Commit to effective platform modeling approaches, advocating for approaches that enable customer flexibility while meeting Apple’s goals around efficiency and utilization of infrastructure capacity.
Minimum Qualifications
Strong experience leading infrastructure capacity for engineering organizations. Detailed familiarity with the processes needed by engineering teams to plan for infrastructure service capacity.
Strong understanding of key infrastructure usage metrics, and a basic understanding of the financial underpinnings of infrastructure capacity costs.
Experience leading software development projects building internal tooling capabilities. Experience managing internal stakeholders for internal tooling capabilities.
5+ years experience managing engineering teams, preferably development teams
Experience managing company wide processes related to resource allocation
Experience working with and building alignment with multiple cross functional stakeholders; especially teams such as Finance, data center infrastructure, procurement, engineering leaders, and business leaders.
Preferred Qualifications
Good understanding of various cloud capacity models, such as reserved, on demand, and spot capacity, and the key differences in these different models.
Experience directing company-wide processes, representing company wide process to senior company executives.
Strong leadership communication skills, strong experience presenting detailed technical and numerical information to executives.
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $252,400 and $378,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
