Summary

The Apple Services Engineering (ASE) organization leads the development and innovation on Apple's cloud-centric products and experiences for users all over the world, including iCloud+, Photos, Mail, Messages, FaceTime, Calendar, Notes, etc. We are the foundation on which Apple's software developers build the products that our customers love. Our multi-disciplinary data team plays a fundamental role in this mission by partnering closely with product, engineering, and business teams to develop a culture of leveraging data to inform and craft our strategy.
Description
We are looking for someone with a track record in identifying, executing, distilling and communicating technical projects to senior leadership, leading to better, more data-informed decision making.
This role partners closely with business and product teams across ASE, focusing specifically on Account & Data Security initiatives that protect Apple's customers and their most sensitive data.
Work includes:
• Lead security initiatives across engineering organizations by partnering with engineering teams to implement data-driven security improvements that span the entire Apple ecosystem.
• Optimize critical user journeys by analyzing and improving account creation, authentication, and recovery flows that handle millions of daily interactions while maintaining Apple's security standards.
• Enhance fraud detection capabilities by developing sophisticated models to identify and prevent account takeovers, fraudulent purchases, and abuse patterns across Apple's services ecosystem.
• Strengthen data protection measures using analytics to optimize encryption implementations, secure data transmission, and privacy-preserving technologies.
• Build scalable security analytics platforms by partnering with Data Engineering to design and implement data pipelines that process security events and user behavior patterns at Apple's scale.
• Influence product roadmaps through data storytelling by presenting compelling analyses to executive leadership that shape multi-quarter security and privacy feature development.
• Plan, design, and analyze A/B tests for security features to optimize security measures without compromising user experience.
Minimum Qualifications
8+ years in a data analytics or data science role (6+ years in a data science role).
Proven track record of cross-functional influence with experience leading initiatives that span multiple engineering teams and business functions.
Executive communication expertise with demonstrated ability to present technical security concepts to C-level executives and influence strategic decisions.
Security domain knowledge including deep understanding of authentication systems, encryption, fraud detection, and privacy-preserving technologies.
Advanced technical skills with expert-level SQL and programming proficiency (Python, R, Scala) with experience in distributed computing (Spark, Hive).
Statistical and ML expertise with strong foundation in statistical modeling, machine learning, and experimental design for security applications.
Stakeholder management experience building consensus among diverse technical and business stakeholders with competing priorities.
High tolerance for ambiguity with ability to navigate complex, evolving security landscape and drive clarity from incomplete information.
Preferred Qualifications
Your academic background is in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Physics, and etc. Advanced degree preferred.
Security specialization with experience in threat modeling, vulnerability assessment, or security operations in large-scale consumer platforms.
Privacy expertise including knowledge of differential privacy, secure multi-party computation, or other privacy-preserving technologies.
Regulatory experience with familiarity with global privacy regulations e.g. GDPR.
Cross-functional leadership with history of leading matrix organizations or influencing teams without direct authority.
Experience leveraging AI to automate, scale and accelerate work streams.
