Job Description
The Paralegal I provides support to a team of attorneys, prepares filings and documents, and monitors docket deadlines. Paralegal I must adapt to shifting priorities and short timelines. Strict attention to detail and deadlines is critical. The Paralegal I performs the following with general instruction and direct supervision from either a managing Attorney, Paralegal Manager, Senior Paralegal II or Senior Paralegal:
Responsibilities:
Process incoming office documents and correspondence from foreign counsel, prepare responses for attorney review and transmit to foreign associates and/or outside counsel. Obtain certified translations and priority documents.
Prepare and attend to legalization of assignments and power of attorney documents; ensure formality requirements are met for each case. Prepare report and form letters to stakeholders and/or attorneys.
Arrange and conduct meetings with business colleagues and stakeholders to obtain required information, signatures, and approval of documentation.
Proactively manage docket deadlines for multiple attorneys with oversight from Paralegal Manager, AbbVie Counsel or other supervisory roles. Confirm accuracy of computer docket system and case files.
Collaborate with colleagues to problem solve, locate information, and find answers.
Coordinate and maintain departmental files, as assigned, in compliance with corporate and government regulations.
Assist with project management as needed with supervision from Senior Paralegal, Paralegal Manager, or managing attorney.
Qualifications
High School diploma required; Bachelor’s Degree or paralegal studies program preferred. Paralegal Certificate preferred.
Minimum two or more (2+) years experience within a law firm or legal department of a corporation required.
Operates with general instruction and direct supervision.
Strong communication skills, writing skills and analytical skills.
Must be well-organized, able to anticipate conflict and plan ahead
Good investigative and problem-solving skills
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Visio.
Intermediate knowledge of document management systems. Experience with iManage/First to File preferred.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time ofthis posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location,and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
