American Express National Bank (AENB) is American Express’ U.S. banking operation serving consumer and small business customers with payments, financing, and savings products. AENB accounts for more than 60% of the overall company’s revenues and net income. AENB HQ drives the administration of programs and services provided by AENB, in partnership with the various businesses, functions and executive officers. The AENB COO Office also plays an enterprise role in driving greater consistency, effectiveness, and efficiency across the first line via its Strategic Planning, Control Management, Program Management, and Governance functions.
The Senior Manager, AENB Affiliate Relationship and Contract Management will manage the bank’s affiliate relationships through the third-party risk management lifecycle, including planning, due diligence, contract negotiation, ongoing monitoring, and termination. This role will drive effective program governance to promote safe and sound practices, transparency, operational discipline, and ensure compliance with Regulation W and the Interagency Guidance on Third Party Relationships: Risk Management.
Strong attention to detail, risk management, leadership, collaboration, and communication skills are essential to succeed in this role, as it requires regular interaction with cross-functional teams and regulatory compliance work. The successful candidate will have a broad understanding of affiliate management practices, contracting, and governance frameworks, as well as the ability to ensure compliance with regulatory and policy requirements. An understanding of American Express products, processes, organization, and governance processes is required.
Responsibilities:
Execute the bank’s comprehensive contract management framework, which allows bank management and boards to effectively manage the bank’s contractual relationships with affiliates
Execute risk-based due diligence activities based upon defined criteria and risk assessments.
Monitor adherence to the bank’s Third-Party Management Policy (AENB 10) and Transactions with Affiliates Policy (AENB 58)
Facilitate regular ongoing bank management and affiliate discussions
Create and maintain service level agreements and related performance metrics, and ensure all activities are executed in accordance with Regulation W-23B and the Interagency Guidance on Third Party Relationships: Risk Management
Support affiliate management governance processes that identify and address risks, gaps, and action plans.

Maintain strong working relationships with key business partners in the Bank and the affiliate, including but not limited to: US Consumer Services, Global Commercial Services, Global Servicing Group, Credit and Fraud Risk, Technology, Legal, and Finance/Controllership.
Work closely with the AENB Affiliate Monitoring and Reporting Team to share monthly, quarterly, and annual performance results with Bank and Affiliate Operational and Executive Owners.
Minimum Qualifications:
3-5 years of banking, operational risk, and/or relationship, vendor, or contract management experience, with a focus on developing and executing risk-based governance solutions
Strong relationship skills including the ability to effectively and professionally communicate and build positive working relationships with all levels within the organization
Strong written, oral, and presenting skills with the ability to influence business leaders and partners
Strong attention to detail and superior organizational and follow-through skills
Effectively works independently within a team construct while supporting teamwork and achievement of team objectives
Proven collaboration skills along with the ability to influence without authority
Demonstrated willingness to take initiative and act decisively
Strong understanding of U.S. banking systems and processes, technical skills/computer knowledge (including excellent Microsoft suite skills) a plus
Understanding of legal contracts and related governance activities
Undergraduate degree preferred, graduate degree a plus
Qualifications
Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually bonus benefits
