DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Project Engineer in Power Generation to join our team specializing in Engineering in Denver, CO.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Facilitating Quality Decisions : By gathering input from various stakeholders, you'll provide valuable recommendations that lead to high-quality product decisions.

  • Driving Project Progress : Using your academic knowledge and experience, you'll make informed decisions that keep projects moving forward without compromising on quality.

  • Enhancing Processes : You'll apply and improve processes like Engineering Standard Work (ESW) and tools such as 7-step problem solving, ensuring robust decision-making frameworks.

  • Leading Projects : You'll independently lead smaller projects or manage complex components, taking full accountability and navigating ambiguity effectively.

  • Executing Work Processes : You'll deliver on established and emerging work processes, continuously developing your technology and product knowledge.

  • Improving Systems : By leading the development and improvement of work processes within your discipline, you'll enhance efficiency and effectiveness across the business unit.

  • Mentoring and Coordinating : You'll coordinate work among technicians and student employees, transferring knowledge and guiding less experienced engineers.

  • Specializing in Your Field : As a recognized specialist, you'll provide technical direction and support within your team, contributing to the overall success of projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Product Development Execution : Plan, schedule, coordinate, and execute product development activities, ensuring alignment with requirements and technical profiles. Monitor and communicate across functional boundaries to meet resource and quality expectations, and take mitigating actions when risks arise.

  • Problem Solving : Solve product problems using a structured process that protects the customer. Determine root causes, implement data-based solutions, and recommend actions to prevent recurrence.

  • System Requirements Engineering : Translate stakeholder needs into verifiable requirements, establish acceptance criteria, and track requirements throughout the lifecycle. Assess the impact of changes on project scope, schedule, and resources.

  • Technical Documentation : Document technical information and communicate it effectively to stakeholders. Ensure knowledge transfer and improved technical productivity.

  • Building Networks : Develop formal and informal relationships inside and outside the organization to facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing.

  • Effective Communication : Deliver clear and tailored communications to different audiences, ensuring understanding and engagement.

  • Decision Quality : Make timely and well-informed decisions to keep projects and the organization moving forward.

  • Driving Results : Consistently achieve results, even under challenging circumstances, by staying focused and determined.

  • Managing Complexity : Navigate complex and sometimes contradictory information to solve problems effectively.

  • Resourcefulness : Efficiently secure and deploy resources to meet project needs and objectives.

  • Mechanical Design Specification : Create detailed specifications, including solid models and engineering bill of materials, that accurately define part requirements and facilitate manufacturing and inspection.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

  • College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field is required.

  • Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.

  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

  • Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making.

  • Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS

Additional Information:

  • Attend quarterly project closure meetings to ensure all applicable projects are closed quarterly and on margin targets.

  • Attend internal/external power hours and customer seminars.

  • Ensure project milestone accuracy in Salesforce for reporting accuracy.

  • Actively monitor and protect project financials and take corrective action when needed.

  • Document variances throughout the life of the project.

  • Engage with factory order management team to ensure forecast accuracy.

  • Ensure a 3-day timeline from delivery or shipment invoicing.

  • Hybrid work model, required attendance 3 days per week.

  • Attend a customer meeting (jobsite, office, etc.) as required, and document the interaction in Salesforce.

  • Regularly update customers on ship dates and notify them immediately of any changes.

  • Drive accountability with other internal and external stakeholders to get desired results.

  • Take complete ownership of projects and be the one voice to the customer.

  • Conduct internal kickoff meetings for complex/high dollar projects.

  • Send submittals to customers as soon as they are available and own the submittal approval process.

  • Be a resource to your teammates by sharing information, best practices and lessons learned and offering to help in areas of your expertise.

  • Take on new projects that may be outside of typical AOR (area of responsibility) when others are out of the office.
