American Express Global Commercial Services (GCS) is the Global leader in the Commercial Payments Solutions space and continues to be an exciting and fast-growing business. To maintain this success, the organization must accelerate sales and drive profitable charge volume growth. The Global Sales Enablement, Pricing & Transformation (SPT) team within GCS is instrumental in ensuring achievement of these objectives. The Director of Sales & Account Development (AD) Conduct and Governance within SPT offers you the opportunity to be part of this dynamic organization and help GCS navigate towards growth.

This position reports to the Vice President – Global and Large Performance Insights, focused on the delivery of G&L’s retention, growth, & transformation objectives in a profitable, sustainable, and compliant manner, across US and international. Leading all planning and performance activities related to Sales and Account Development colleagues. Additionally, responsible for Bringing in the “do it right the first time” mindset, this role will be focused on designing the strategy around providing governance on the sales & client management activities recorded by the G&L field colleagues. It would require collaboration with the Conduct Management, ORM, Project Guardian team, Marketing, Performance, Reporting, technology and Incentive Governance teams. This Director position would be responsible for managing a team of 5 colleagues comprising of managers and analysts. The director will work cross-functionally to lead the development of the governance framework, run the daily business efforts, and strategic efforts from conception to rollout ensuring right balance between business growth and colleague experience. This role is also responsible for defining success metrics, ensuring key performance indicators are reportable to track real-time business impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead / Partner on business unit specific frameworks, including identification of accountable leaders to oversee BU conduct risk programs

  • Partner with BU-specific conduct risk teams and interact with Central 2nd Line of Defense conduct risk teams

  • Partner with GCS Control Management and 2nd line functions to enhance the control environment, mitigate risks and effectively upgrade operations in line with Blue Box standards

  • Drive consistent expectations of practice across BU-specific Conduct Risk monitoring and reporting teams.

  • Develop/enhance guidance, templates, and enablers for risk monitoring and reporting to support skills development.

  • Partner with VP of Governance & VP of GCS Guardian in SPT

  • Provide thought leadership, and partner with cross-functional teams for conduct risk including CEG, Risk, One.Force, Compliance, Conduct management & ORM

  • Lead Incentive design & documentation for the G&L organization

  • Lead on designing the rules of engagement for the client facing business teams in alignment with P&I teams in G&L and SME

  • Drive operational excellence and ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Build positive relationships with key collaborators

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Expertise in process governance, with a track record of establishing and overseeing robust decision-making processes and establishing reporting & monitoring framework on conduct risk

  • Proven business leader and resourceful self-starter with the ability to navigate ambiguity and engage in structured thinking

  • Strong thought leadership, business acumen & execution skills with attention to details

  • Strong collaborative/interpersonal skills and ability to work in a dynamic, fast changing environment

  • High intellectual curiosity & critical thinking with the ability to understand new concepts quickly and solve complex problems.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to support SPT leadership and Business in reviews and special projects

  • Ability to adopt a business mentality and link business strategies to specific initiatives

  • Expert knowledge of MS office tools especially excel and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in operational risk management and understanding of operational risk frameworks and regulatory requirements for larger financial institutions will be a plus

  • Candidates with 10 years of experience in governance and analytics would be preferred

  • Leadership experience with managing direct reports

Qualifications

Salary Range: $130,000.00 to $205,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
