The IS&T Enterprise Storage team provides block and file storage that powers many of the critical applications that help assist in the running of Apple (like SAP, b2b, POS, IDMS, BI, etc.). We provide the infrastructure from third party storage providers from Dell, Pure Storage, Hitachi, Netapp and more and integrate them into the Apple workflow. Description
You will be responsible for maintaining and architecting enterprise storage infrastructure in a data center environment. Help provide efficient operations for our storage and systems environment. The candidate will be engaged with multi-functional systems and storage engineers, Database and SAP administrators, as well as application team members to help build and support storage infrastructure. Provide 2nd and third level storage support and analysis. This position is part of an on-call rotation requiring 7x 24 support during scheduled weekly period. As a Storage SRE in IS&T, you will be required to have a deep understanding of enterprise storage, performance analysis, programming, and expertise in Linux system internals. Our responsibilities investigate the OS to help tune the complete I/O path from storage through the network to the system.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree w/minimum 5 year experience
Strong familiarity with block and file enterprise storage appliances
Storage fabric technologies (Fibre Channel(Brocade or Cisco), NVMe, or RoCE
Systems engineer level experience with Linux Operating systems (Redhat or other)
Familiarity with database technologies such as Postgres, MongoDB, or Oracle
Strong working experience with frontend tools like Tableau or Grafana
Preferred Qualifications
Strong Python or Shell Scripting
Working experience with AI and storage. An understanding of LLM’s, MCP, and Agentic AI as it relates to storage
Experience working with Enterprise storage vendors from Pure Storage or Dell.
Cloud Technologies: Experience with using and building cloud technologies on AWS and other 3PC
Experience working in a virtualized environment such as KVM, Open-stack, and Cinder
