Systems Administration Engineer Whippany, NJ

As a Barclays Systems Administration Engineer, you will provide third line server support by working on infrastructure projects, producing activity plans and managing the team/tasks to plan. You will use your expertise for problem management, root cause analysis and implementation of remediation actions on supported platform elements.

What will you be doing?

• Ensuring compliance with all regulatory, risk and audit requirements and delivering leadership on all related matters • Ensuring that all activities are handled promptly and effectively • Being pro-active in the review of implemented solutions to ensure that they are fit for purpose • Providing improvements/changes to the platform, in support of client requirements and the organization strategy • Carrying out fault diagnosis relating to complex problems, reporting the results of such diagnosis in a clear and concise manner

What we’re looking for:

• Five+ years of Linux experience and facilitating technologies, RHEL Kernel tuning, configuration, and supporting RHEL servers • Five + years of working with storage technologies (SAN, Veritas VM, SRDF, ASM Lun config) and clustering technologies (Veritas VCS, CFS, Pacemaker) • Five+ years of experience of networking, TCP/IP, DNS, traceroute, routing (at RHEL6/7/8 OS level) • Three+ years working with CHEF/equivalent configuration management tooling & a good understanding of performance tuning on CPU/IO/Memory and network from the OS side

Skills that will help you succeed in the role:

• Storage related configuration from the OS side (including work with ASM disks, local disks) • Linux patching, performance and Linux kernel level fixes, Bash and Python scripting • RHEL administration including boot, grub, performance and other troubleshooting • Network related experience: LAN/WAN, Ethernet, TCP/IP, DMZ and routing, wireshark/packet analyser
