Global Supply Management (GSM) is responsible for helping Amex enhance the purchasing power of over $11B annual third party spend. We provide strategic consultation to the business and provide end-to-end procurement services. We increase the purchasing power of the Company to drive the best value from our supplier base which then frees up investment capacity for the Blue Box. GSM, together with our business partners, manages the supplier strategy for the Company, identifying and on-boarding new suppliers, realizing significant cost saves and revenue generation working with Global Commercial Services and Global Merchant Services to increase billings and merchant coverage and ensuring an optimal user experience for Amex colleagues and suppliers.
The Category Manager role is expected to develop and grow relationships with Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) business partners to understand objectives, key priorities, and opportunities. The role will partner with internal customers to develop strategic, forward-thinking plans with multi-year value generating initiatives to enable business success. The successful candidate will lead strategy planning and negotiations for Software as a Service and IT Labor (consulting) engagements totaling over $2B in annual spend.
Responsibilities, at a high level, include:
Develop global category management plans for infrastructure software and IT Labor to meet ETS and enterprise objectives,
Understand spend profiles, perform benchmarking analysis to develop strategic category plans with multi-year value generating sourcing initiatives to enable ETS success.
Prepare cases and presentations for internal ETS, GSM and Finance leaders.
Partner with ETS leaders and Source to Contract team to develop sourcing strategies, negotiate key deals and contracts and complete supplier assessments and selections through RFx activities.
Establish and grow strong relationships with ETS partners to understand key strategies, annual goals/objectives, and identify issues, challenges, and potential opportunities.
Lead through critical thinking, financial analytics, external marketplace evaluation and partnership with ETS to influence and drive key, strategic business decisions.
Bring external insights, innovative ideas, and an enterprise view on market trends, competitive landscape, value generation and strategic sourcing opportunities.
Develop a category review cycle to refresh strategy and ensure alignment with ETS partners on a regular basis.
Collaborate with ETS partners and Source to Contract team to ensure efficient and effective delivery of contracting activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
5 years of extensive, broad-based strategic sourcing and/ or category management experience.
Strong critical thinking and planning skills, balanced with proven track record of delivering tangible results in complex, global and matrix work environment.
Excellent relationship management and communication skills with ability to collaborate and influence across levels with internal and external partners (including senior executives) globally. Proven ability to engage and maintain senior partner relationships.
Proven track record of data analysis to develop insights and recommendations, solve business challenges, improve customer experience and bottom-line results.
Strong leadership skills and commitment to collaborating and partnering with customers, colleagues and key collaborators to deliver high-quality output with limited resources.
Positive attitude, ability to work in a fluid, fast paced, and at times unstructured environment and maintain flexibility to meet the changing needs of the customers, business units and the organization.
Bachelor Degree Required
Preferred Qualifications:
Software/ IT Labor category management and/or sourcing experience preferred.
Financial acumen experience with standard accounting treatment.
Project management skills: to manage sourcing events, contract renewals, system/ process changes.

Salary Range: $89,250.00 to $150,250.00 annually bonus benefits
